User ID: 77815459 United States 12/03/2020 07:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is just because of the house selling/flipping boom that has been spiraling out of control for the last year. Everyone is getting new appliances. Plywood is hard to find. Contractors are booked solid. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79349465 Don't worry it will bust hard like 2008 and then you will be able to get all the appliances you want at deeply discounted prices. That new roof, tile, or siding you wanted will be 50% of the price that it is now. Of course we'll all be unemployed and broke! All this house flipping is what is driving prices and property taxes up. There needs to be a law against instant unlimited flipping They don't even need a law, just allow interests rates to be decided by the free market and end all the QE programs that have kept rates artificially low for 20+ years. No one would bother flipping houses if there weren't insane profits to be made from it. |

Having good friends all around you that have skills in plumbing, electrical, mechanics, construction, etc etc.. Trading is going to be more important than ever. Keep those friends close, and have something to trade. Almost everyone has a skill. Hell, if you dont, do the lawn, watch the kids, or any number of things. That's not a bad thing to have. Good friends with lots of different skill sets. |

Someone threw out a washer and dryer set because the washer door broke. The dryer was almost brand new. I always get 5 years of warranty... Fair enough. When I buy things, I figure that they'll last as long as they do, and in most cases, I can fix them cheaply enough, so I never get a warranty. Others have different circumstances and that's OK too. I just hope that the parts and repairman are there for you if you need them. |

Save some $$$ on electricity and perform some preventative maintenance. i did this on my old GE fridge from the mid 90s this summer. it was making odd noises, wouldn't stay cold. cleaned the guts out, sucked a ton of crap off the evap/coils and she runs ice cold again. cheaper to keep her. bought a big mini fridge still in box and have a freezer for backups. I rented a house that had a old GE Fridge in it prolly about 10 years old late 80's or early 80s model. I was in that home for 24 years and the freezer quit working...amazing. |

Started calling around about a repair and almost everyone I talked to was a crook. One guy told me he needed to order a $500 part before even coming to the house. Another told me it would be extra to come out the same day then yelled at me when I said no thank you. Finally got a local guy who said he'd be right out. Fixed it it for the meantime and said he'd be back in 3 days with the new part. My husband asked him where his shop was and he said, "It's my truck." |
