There are good peeps on this thread, I admit a fondness for the jukebox as well (I know Lance doesn't always like the genre most commonly played there). I found GLP a long time ago and it was my crutch through some really awful things. I guess I came back after nearly 7 years away because well, the beginning of covid was another really awful time for my world.

But here we are (another favorite thread) and we have each other and kindness prevails in these places the light shines in.

I appreciate all of you so very much.

He arrives at Midnight Monday to Tuesday, he stays Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - three days, then leaves Friday morning.

That was my answer. But nope.

Well then let's hang him for the crime of "Defrauding an Innkeeper". The nerve of him!

Tonight, we had dinner at my daughter's house. She made gumbo.

For dessert, she tried this peach dump cake. The guys liked it while the girls thought the cereal at the bottom was too much mush. We would have liked it better either without the cereal or maybe less and crunched up into a powder. Anyhow, we ate it!

I just got home but made a pork tenderloin in the instant pot..barely had time to cook the beans and potatoes to go with it.

We had to do a rerun of the green beans from last night as my daughter is hooked on them. I bartered for a bushel of beans this summer and we snapped and blanched and froze most of them, ate a bunch, and made a few jars of dilly beans, but the frozen ones are pretty much gone.

I saute them in a little butter with bacon and carmelized onions and rosemary.

Para, that peach cobbler looks sooooo good! It's one of my favorites, especially in the winter time. You can almost taste the sunshine in the peaches.

As a guy, I admit I was too busy eating to get a pic, but we had homemade personal chicken pot pie's for dinner.

I had a duck give me the dirt on it all.

Good morning everyone. Much of our ice melted yesterday in central Virginia, then temps went to the low 20's F / -6.7 C so everything froze in ice overnight.

Now we are supposed to get another 3/4 inch / ~2 cm of ice today on everything again which will bring down more power lines and trees upon them.

Steak and green beans for dinner yesterday, no idea what lunch today will be.

My offices are closed so while in the past I would do nothing, having moved my office home a year ago, these are the days despite being 'off' I'm still 'on' and may be busy.

I need to spark a bowl to have a suitable start to such a day!

We may have a bit of a freezing problem here involving my septic outflow but probably not appropriate topic for a food thread. I will be starting my morning out with a pretty dirty job and will be inspired to succeed so that I can a take a shower!

The freezing rain has just began in force at my home.

How it works was explained by one of our meteorologists is like this:

1. It's snowing tens of thousands of feet up.

2. The snow falls through a layer of warm air and melts into droplets

3. The droplets become small spherules of supercooled liquid water as they fall through a freezing layer of air and as long as they are round and moving they remain liquid. But as temps are so cold on the surface the moment that water droplet hits a tree branch, a power line, the road or your sidewalk it instantly flattens and freezes in under a second.

That is why the trees and power lines fall in an ice storm, when in summer it would be barely two inches of rain soaking into the ground, but in Winter it weighs down and destroys everything it sits upon. 3/4 inches of ice on a power line far exceeds its weight and will break it, the same goes for tree branches.

Hey who else combines science with ridiculous music?
