I tracked it last night for about an hour and created the above time lapse. Later tonight it will pass in front of a relatively bright star designated HD 89707, a magnitude 7 star that is just at the limit of human vision from pristine skies. With binoculars or a telescope, amateur astronomers will be able to see the star blink out for a tiny fraction of a second as the asteroid passes directly in front of it over a narrow corridor that cuts through the United States. Stupid peasants as always, 99.9% degenerates degraded by billonaires. OP is troll, unless it helps you look into astronomy. This rock is only 300 meters. the one with dino 15km. and we need one 1000km 300 m is enough to wipe a major city off the map and cause devastation to outlying regions. that is exactly true. you are not an idiot. but 99.9% of other are. but even if it is 30km .. you really want billionaires going into shuttle while Earth surface is reset, to repopulate Earth after the event into how they want it? It doesn't simply mean a nuclear bomb. You can't refer to a nuclear bomb as being a single megaton nuke and then claim you meant it's a 100 megaton nuke. Those are two different things. A megaton is simply the measure of its explosive force, not a general term for any given nuclear bomb. |

If there's anything orbiting this asteroid it will be so close to it that I wouldn't have been able to resolve it separately from the asteroid itself in my images. If it has companions then there's a good chance Goldstone would detect that when they do radar observations of it next month. |
