Grove And this is why we can't have nice things. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79676714 Shit man any oilfield worker or truck driver does that and rarely gets any air time. Those remote jobs require long hours, but they are compensated well and have time off. This is a potato chop factory that refused to stop the assembly line when a line worker died. Instead they sent in a replacement worker and pushed the body to the side. If you watch the video, you will understand why this is modern day slavery. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80003260 Poland 07/22/2021 09:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Jimmy Dore is a progressive, but I think most people on GLP who watch the video will be horrified to see that this type of slavery (for lack of a better word) exists in the US. And as Jimmy points out, not one progressive politician is standing up for the injustices at this plant. Quoting: Happy in Nature Uh, are most so-called progressives or liberals very honest, sensible, ethical, empathetic people? All those traits are required as a bundle in order for any one of them to be worth a damn. That's why "leftys" often aren't worth a damn. Or why they make the best Dr Jekyls and Mr Hydes. |

There's jobs everywhere. Oh, but not that pay what you make at frito lay doing 84 hour weeks? Well then I don't know what to say. I do not believe a factory should be allowed to exploit human labor on this level. Hire more workers, which should be cheaper than paying 44 hours extra in overtime wages. If you cannot make a product without slave labor, then you shouldn't be in business. The workers are not scheduled 84 hours - they are told at the end of the shift that they will be coming in early the next day and staying late or they lose their jobs. They get out of a shift at 7 p.m. and then told they need to be a their job at 3 a.m. These workers weer not sitting home collecting unemployment, btw. |

Why should any human have to work 100hours a week to put food on the table? I worked 100 hour weeks when I built my business and now I barely work 20 hrs a week and am making the most money I've ever made. You get out of life what you put in. But never work like a slave for anyone else. Just find work that you want to master, get taught, and get out on your own |

Just find work that you want to master, get taught, and get out on your own I have had many 80 plus hour weeks with my own business - but I would never ask or allow my workers to put in those hours. I live in a third world country and limit my workers to 40 plus hours, five days a week, though the law permits 48 hours 6 days a week. I also closed my former business four days a year and took my employees on an all expense paid vacation to thank them for their hard work and low an d behold, my business was still profitable and I had almost no employee turnover in 12 years. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80550040 Japan 07/22/2021 10:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | While I feel bad for anyone who has to slave away that many hours a week, it's not completely unheard of. I did it for years when I was in my 20's- 14-16 hour days in management. Always because some lazy teenager didn't feel like coming in, So I had to do their job AND mine. And I was salaried, so no extra hourly income or overtime. Yeah, it sucks. They should make all of the Antifa and BLM turds get jobs there in order to keep their U.S. citizenship. Then they could see what real work is all about. They would also be too damn tired to protest. |

Maybe the company will let the strikers have a cut in hours, and hire other people to do part-time work instead. Seems to me the company is wasting money by asking the striking workers to work overtime. Slave wage would be something like a dollar an hour, or a dollar a day. “Queen Sarah, save us from the Black Dog King!” - from the play, Dissocia [link to tasaonline.org.au (secure)] "Never be anyone's French poodle." - Mr Hamilton |
