User ID: 59490123 United States 05/16/2022 12:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I top off my 500 gal propane tank ONCE A YEAR - in the heat of the Summer when prices are at their lowest - sometimes early in the fall because the min load that they will deliver is 200 gals. Last Winter my (secondary) propane heating system krapped out- so I don't know when I will be topping my tank off - because I barely used any - for my stove, water heater and dryer - even though they only fill 80% of the tank - I only used 35% - and could probably go another year (or 2) without having to fill it - if "global warming" is real LOL I am seriously considering buying a propane generator to replace my gasoline gen - because it's easier to store propane than gas (and Rita taught us that they will confiscate gas gens) ... and I can read the handwriting on the wall - and I just can't imagine life without electricity - even though I have a wood stove (in the garage) and plenty of wood - for a dire emergency - it appears that I might have to use it - if Biden remains in office. ( I refuse to be a victim of the NWO) - no doubt they will "engineer" cloud cover to deal with those who use solar power - the wind is already too strong for a personal wind turbine system. I trust that there will be enough unvaxxed still living, to correct the globalist's power grab - before I run out of propane . PS. I just replaced all my (sheer)curtains with extra long "thermal" drapes - to save on energy costs. My house is built out of block and earth-bermed on three sides - so my heating costs are already minimal - with two space heater keeping it toasty - HA Last Edited by Shadow Dance on 05/16/2022 01:37 PM |

Now is the time to insulate everything. I was amazed at the difference when I moved to a house that had good insulation and a dry basement. It's a different house. OMG insulate for sure. Caulk up any leaky windows as well. |

Prepare for an expensive winter next year. Might want to get yourself a bigger tank and slowly fill it during the summer as funds are available then draw it down in the winter. |

A good start would be to prohibit the exportation of diesel fuel while the United States in in crisis. But no. Instead, they allow refiners to export out of the gulf and East Coast as fast as they possibly can because Europe pays better. Fucking criminal. When gov't SHOULD get involved, they do nothing and watch the fire burn. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77374864 United States 05/16/2022 02:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Acquaintance BUILT a house in northern Ohio, the cold part of the state NOT southern Ohio. He built it with WINTER HEATING in mind. About 3000sf and his WINTER heat bills for his WORST month evry year are around $75/mo, a good chunk of that being for the hot water his family uses, and he does NOT use a wood stove, just a regular nat gas furnace. Typically a new build house of his size in that climate with the new modern gas furnaces would still cost $400 -$500/mo, some a few hundred more BUILD IT RIGHT from the get go for energy conservation and you can dramatically cut the cost of heating your place. In his case outer wall studs are 6" and he used higher density insulation than most. Window are triple paned with argon gas I think it is between the panes. OH ... and LOTS of them South Facing to collect the sun in the winter time, at least when it shines in gloomy northern Ohio in the winter. The list of things he did goes on a bit more ... double entranceway into the house so no drafts flowig into the house when someone come in from outside ... well insulated foundation ... very heavy insulation in the attic ... double wrapped to stop air leaks ... so on and so forth. He uses so little gas that the gas company came out three different time to try to see if he was STEALING gas from them via some tap on his drop line or on a neighbor's line ... and then they had the electric company come out and see if he was stealing electricity from the electric company to heat his place (they came out twice). NOPE ... all legit. When he went to build he studied up on it and went whole hog on heating engergy saving. Said it added about 3%-5% to the cost, but well worth it, has made his money back in spades plus it will have a higher resale value. Lesson? INSULATE INSULATE INSULATE!! North facing breaks in the wall should be SMALL but LOTS of south facing windows to make the place light and airy and bring in heat producing sunshine. Super energy efficient triple paned gas filled windows. After talking to him I concluded IF one just pays attention when one is first building a place one can save oodles on heating. If you buy an existing house adding attic and wall insulation is a virtual MUST in this day of high northern heating bills. |
