Awesome car. Good luck. My dad had the skyliner. That top was crazy.
 Quoting: Robotanimal

Cool Lol. Did the top go up and down good? That had to been fun to ride in with the top down
 Quoting: bro tim

Yes, it worked perfect. Loved to watch it go up and down. Very cool engineering.

The Fliptop Ford is as rare as chicken teeth.
I had a 61 Ford Galaxy convertible. baby blue with a white top and baby moons on the wheels. it had the 352 auto. Talk about a long car. Had a 59 Mercury Montclair with the 352. You could sit in the front seat and barely put your feet on the dash. and then it had a Continental Kit to make it even longer. The merc was my 1st car. The Ford was 2nd. The one I loved the most was the 3rd and it was a 62 Pontiac two door convertible with 389. This was all in High School. (grad 1965) IIRC $1300 for the Pontiac.

Two different cars, a Galaxie 500 was much larger than a Fairlane 500. I had a '65 Fairlane 500 had 289-V8 and by best friend had a '65 Galaxie 4-door with 352-V8.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78168052

I know this is a top-of-the-line for that year other than the Skyliner LOL but I'm almost positive it's a Galaxy Fairlane 500

The fastest car I ever rode in was a Sunbeam Tiger with a Ford 289. Buried me in the seat and the guy went into second around 50 or 60 and still squealed the tires. The Tiger was the predecessor (sp) to the Cobra I think.

Welcome to the club....I graduated in 65. My dad had a 57 Mercury and a 59 Mercury and then a 63 and a half Mercury Marauder.
 Quoting: Endtimewatchman10

I have a 67 Mercury four-door with the 410 Mercury and a C6 automatic transmission I want the 410 Mercury to put in the 59 because the Mercury had a fire and the body lines are straight but everything else is pretty well gone except for the engine transmission which I'm going to rebuild I plan on

Well if I told you that I've talked with Jesus personally and he's hugged me several times actually more than I can count now you probably wouldn't believe that either. You can read my other site that says yes Jesus hug me twice. But just remember in eternity the choice is yours

If the car was totally level the top worked fine. If you were parked going uphill or downhill? Not so much.

My cousin had one, got the interior wet a time or two trying to get to level ground...

Bump.

Let's talk about old cars. I've got an old Duster I am finishing up but lately it's been WAY too hot to work in the garage. I am looking forward to fall when I can finish the wiring.

I've got the trunk wired, the interior and dash wired. Just have to do all of the exterior lights.

[/quoaa I've done some restorations. With all the time expended you'll never get back what you put into one. I do it for myself rather than making money off that work and parts. I DO KNOW people that spend two years of work on a restoration and then get it finished and sell it and start a new one. That's crazy.

Paid $1,000 for it. It has a lot of rust but I would like to put my 410 Mercury engine in it with a four-speed or even a 5-speed would be nice. Just wondered what my fellow car nuts think about this?
