Quoting: Dolan Trumb My theory explains all the evidence. Feel free to post more ME example and I'll show how they can be traced back to assumptions people make based on their personal experience it explains nothing - it does not work. 1) people have shit memory (not capable of remembering a pose) - assumption - you actually have not quantified nor studied this - 2) people are likely to remember things that are more logical - fist on forehead more logical for a statue called the thinker - another assumption - half the people here think hand under chin is more logical 3) you assume a bunch of kids would not be able to reproduce the pose of a statue when looking at it .. you posit that they may not have looked at it - that is just plain stupid .. Your theory is pure garbage - albeit simple .. perfect for a simple mind. Why did at least one of the kids put their hand on their chin? I actually can't see that for sure on the photo ..too small and blurry, resolution not good enough... looks like her fist is on her cheek to me. Now you're just being disingenuous |

"Luke, I am your father" because of countless parodies mis-quoting over the years. All the spelling ones eg. "Looney Toons", "Berenstein" are because kids don't know how to spell and/or as you said they make more sense than the real spelling. "Toons" makes more sense if you don't know the history of the name, basically a play on disneys "Merry Melodies". Also another very interesting thing is all the examples of Mandela effect are always the few same and from the US. I searched a lot and found no original Mandela effects in French. It's because they all originated from the same articles on the net and became a meme. If the phenomenon was real you would always have new examples from all over the globe, but instead it's always the same few ones from the same clickbait sites. It's a meme gooby pls |

The fact that literally seconds prior to posing for this picture, all, or many of these people JUST LOOKED AT IT, saw that the fist was on the chin, and then posed with their fists to their head, is a TESTAMENT to just how fundamentally inattentive human beings are, and how their short term memory of what they just looked at, has failed them within SECONDS. The truth of the Mandela Effect, is that the overwhelming majority of the people in the world, are stupid. |

The rough edges are smoothed over for a sanitized version. It feels like the past is being corrected more than being messed with. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83936256 With that said, I remember this statue with the anguished hand on head like he was dealing with some major problem whereas now he looks to be in pensive thought, which is a much more positive outcome. |

It demonstrates how easily lead people are, they can stand in front of something and copy each other (wrongly) rather than the thing their supposedly imitating. That is what YOU PEOPLE SAY. To someone like me, that is an ASININE explanation! Unfortunately, for me, I have NEVER been a SHEEP. I was born VERY INTELLIGENT, and I have ALWAYS questioned EVERYTHING. I actually have a VERY DIM VIEW of my fellow man's thinking ability. In my case, When I noticed that The Thinker statue had his hand on his forehead, I asked my girlfriend, who is much younger than I, how SHE remembered it. UNCOACHED, she remembered The Thinker with his hand under his chin. That was HER introduction to THE MANDELA EFFECT. From there, we had MANY coversations, comparing memories; Pikachu's tail, Mirror-mirror, Berenstein, Bruce Springsteen's bandana... A year or two later, I happened to see an advertisement for Doby Gillis on television, and I caught a glimpse of The Thinker statue with his hand back under his chin. I knew I had found proof, RESIDUE as they call it, of the way The Thinker previously looked, but when I GOOGLED it again, THE HAND WAS NOW UNDER THE CHIN, although it was not a CLENCHED FIST, as it originally was. I, AGAIN, brought this to my girlfriend's attention. Even more conversations ensued. BUT, TO HEAR YOU GENIUSES EXPLAIN IT, WE ARE MISREMBERING THE WHOLE ORDEAL, OCCURING OVER A ONE OR TWO YEAR PERIOD, LESS THAN FIVE YEARS AGO? If you TRULY believe in the FRAGILE FALLIBILITY of MEMORY, on a COLLECTIVE SCALE, then ERGO, YOU MUST BELIEVE THAT YOUR OWN MEMORY IS UNRELIABLE, ALSO. THEREFORE, HOW CAN YOU SAY WHO IS RIGHT, AND WHO IS WRONG? |

Quoting: The_Gardener I didn't know that was even a theory until this thread. It's never been that way. It's always been with his fist supporting his chin. Having his fist on his forehead doesn't even make sense. And Isaiah 11 never read 'And the lion shall lie down with the lamb'. Whoever starts these stupid rumors should serve jail time. I bet you watched Dobie Gillis when you were young. You would lose that bet. Who is a liar more than one who denies that Jesus is the Messiah? One who denies the Father and the Son is antichrist.
