I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE DRUG/FREEDOM ASPECTS.

I HAVE FRIENDS WITH A VACATION HOME THERE. IT IS SPARSELY POPULATED. PRIMARILY FISHING AND FARMING.

VERY TEMPERATE COASTAL AREAS AND BEAUTIFUL.

NOT A HUGE TOURIST DESTINATION.

I WOULD BE THERE OR PATAGONIA IF IT WERE SOLELY UP TO MY MONKEY MIND...BUT I LIVE WHERE I DO NOW BASED UPON MY TRUSTING "SPIRIT"

THE MAIN APPEAL I FOUND IN PARAGUAY WAS THE WEATHER, THE BEAUTY AND THE LOW POPULATION DENSITY.

I give you some advice if you ever get there. Some good antihistamine tablets in your supplies along with some kind of insect screen for you head. The highland midges are terrible within a minute of stopping you will have a cloud of them in your face going up your nose and biting anywhere and everywhere. Take some form of device so you can cook as there is a no open fire rule so you need to get one of those paraffin stoves minimum. Don't worry about water so much as there is plenty of fresh water coming down from the mountains. You definitely need a tent or a hammock with a bug net or you will wake up looking like the elephant man(hence the antihistamines).

NO DOUBT...BUT THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THE SOUTHERN OREGON COAST BETWEEN CAVE JUNCTION TO BROOKINGS AND GOING NORTH FOR QUITE A WAYS THAT HAS FAR MORE OF THAT MANY PLACES I HAVE BEEN.

Believe it or not, in the mountains Northwest of Dali, China. You can live like a king off your social security check. Most folks there can’t speak engrish and generally leave you alone. You can hire a live in housekeeper/cook that will do your shopping for you…use a translation app for your phone if you really need to talk to anyone. Good coffee needs to be imported but the puerh tea is the best in the world.

...or northern Idaho but it's not a solo decision.
