They sure are sending a real message, they don’t give a flying fuck about the continental USA beyond keeping peasants in line.

If they chose to take it down, I would think the USAF or USN could put enough heat on the thing that it would pretty much burn up before hitting the ground.

If two balloons, the first is separated by a distance which would put the first over the east coast when the second would be entering the west coast? Two balloons in perfect position…mid west and east coast at the same time is not a good indication of peaceful intent? Emp?

I wonder how they’d like it if we floated a “civilian” balloon at high altitude over their country? This is nuts. Get the damn thing down and let’s take a good look at it. If it is a civilian balloon then no big deal. Make it look like an accident or something.

If this was indeed an accident, China has had ample time to contact the US and Canada and let us know their "toy" had gone rogue.

One question…why so specific that it is no threat to the ground? Why not say no threat to anything in air or ground?

Wonder if it has some form of defensive system against aircraft?

main point of all this is....a foreign spy BALLOON was able to infiltrate American airspace, wasn't acknowledged by ANYONE until it made it in to the country and was caught on camera by a CITIZEN, and is now in the middle of the country and no one with the intel will tell you anything about it.

In one of the local reports yesterday from Billings crew and passengers of an undisclosed airline reported seeing the balloon while in flight, then there was a groundstop issued. I think that was the straw that broke the camel's back on the DoD releasing it's existence.

I believe it was from the local NBC affiliate.

"is not a threat to people on the ground" is vague on purpose. It may not be a threat to people on the ground, but it is a threat while in the air is the unspoken.
