Well, hammy, I have enjoyed ya thread.
One thing I would like to add is the type of roads.
Here is a small section of the twistyies we got going near where I live.
Now, the guys in the vid are taking it fairly easy, but watch it long enough, throw another 40km/h at the corners and you can imagine just how good these roads are for scratching.

Yeah those guys are out for a sunday drive. I'm looking for a vid of the nerang murwullimbah road and across the link rd to springbrook. to show you. ya can google earth the spot. The corners are posted 80km but are capable of handling 180-200ks leaned flat and sliding. Thats corner after corner. Coupla long straights thrown in.

The link rd is a bit slower buy ya can hit the 180k mark if ya going mental.
The eye openers are the blind crested bends. Ya gotta line em up. leaned and power on, airborne over the crest and if ya got ya maths right, you should have it landed and tidied up just as the tyres touch the centre line.
but somehow I don't think I'm gonna be able to find a vid that will do it justice.
The coppers kind of frown upon evidence suggesting illegal (fun) activity... I will have to go raid a private collection.

Probably the coolest videos I saw was from the isle of man TT a couple of years ago.. with the fast guys hopping all over the place.. very cool how they can control that shit..



I personally was never that good in the corners.. just confident enough to do what I have to do..

Hitting off camber corners and being airborne on a 180Hp 325Lb rocket sounds a little finicky for me..


I'd love to loft a bike over a straight crest just to see what it feels like.. but to be flat out in a corner is a little hairy.

The TT. Hell yeah!! Those guys have have to pre dent the fuel tank just so they got somewhere for their balls to rest.

Ugh.. like having a fat girlfriend.. Contacting walls in corners.

We got a long straight with a level railway crossing (no gates) west of lismore (it ain't exactly level). At 200km/h ya traveling bout 55m per second. the touch down is gentle, and apart from picking up a few hundred extra revs for just over a second, all ya feel is a distinct realisation you are now just along for the ride. Give it a go if you ever get the chance.

As far as being airborne leaned over in a corner on a 325lb 180hp ninja stick, I agree with you. I would think very very seriously bout it before saying no. .
Mines an ol 04 vtr1000 (firestorm, different name in the US) weighs a ton, 105hp, usable torque, very very stable, with steering geometry numbers that make it surprisingly quick through corners. I learned how to slide on this thing. I've thought seriously bout selling it to get something a bit more exciting, but I'm getting past my immortal stage and don't need be buying an extra 8 pack of undies every week.

Yeah.. I think its called the superhawk over here... 996 superhawk seems to fit with the VTR1000.



I actually watched the 100th anniversary of the TT so I saw this guy race.. but didn't get to see that on-board lap.. Very fast and sketchy the whole time.. I mean.. you can visibly see the attitude of the bike on some of those corners.. A very precarious dance on some of those corners for sure..
