I'll give the Busa' that.. In a straight line attack.. such as a freeway roll-on..pound for pound on factory bikes, there is no comparison to the Busa' the ZX-14 is till a tick slower [1/4 mile times]


But seriously.. you don't buy a bike to ride down to the track or cruise the straight freeways..


That's why you need a bike that isn't asleep in the corners.


I've ridden plenty of GSX1300R's in my day.. Capped and uncapped models.. and they're scary fast bikes.. but they're also very long and very heavy compared to the more nimble 1000cc superbikes.. Which is why I'd never own a Hayabusa... ever.

this thread reminds me of the south park episode when they make fun of all the harley bikers...hahaha funny stuff.

This is a short section of the Nerang murwulimbah rd I mentioned earlier.
The cam is mounted low, gives you a good look at the wheel and the road is a bit hard to see.
The rider isn't give it much stick, but it should give you an idea.

THE LINK RD.
Cam is a bit crappy.
At 1:48 is one blind crest. The jump is at 2:28. Ya gotta hit it about 140k, and at that speed, the only way to know where the road goes is to sight the tree tops curving off to the left. I don't do it much anymore.....and never on a weekend.
Really sorry for the crappy cam. Wish it was much better but thats all I can find.

Just found this thread and I'll be going through it.

Got my first bike back in -78 and I've had over 15 bikes so far. Mostly sport bikes, sport tourers, a few adventure tourers. Cruiser type bikes and huge tourers are useless in my opinion and you never see me on one of those. Most fun is riding sportbikes at a racetrack, I started doing that for fun 15 yrs ago. Current bikes: A -08 Yamaha FZ1-S and a Honda CBR600FS -02.

I like sportbikes and the ability to go fast when I want to and being able to grind the footpeg in tight left hand corner riding that fine line between traction and OOOOHHHH SHHIIIITTTT. LOL

This is like the bike that I drive, Mine is just a different color.
Basically the same motor as the V-Max but in the 1300 size.

what I would love to get for my VFR and pump up teh HP to 156hp.. LOL

VFR's are well rounded bikes.. Plus I love the V-Twin sounds!

I owned a V45 Magna for a year.. Fun bike.. sounded good.. But it was a gas hog.. Ugh. seems like every time I rode that thing it was throwing the gas light on.. Maybe it was how I was driving

If you ride heavy on the throttle the VFR gets about 32MPG and if you ride it easy I get between 46-51 MPG and with a 5.5 gallon tank you can go far.

My nephew just sold his superhawk and that V twin ate the gas as just riding about 10 over the speed limit he was lucky to get 30mpg. well it did have D&D race exhaust, carbs jetted, and it would raise the front end at 80mph in top gear if you wanted to do it.

well I was getting between 28 and 36 depending.. I was making 110 mile trips and barely making it... The bike was all stock, no mods whatsoever.. I wonder if I just got a bad one..



I had a buddy who had a 996 superhawk that was modded peretty good.. I love the sound!


But he said it drank crazy amounts of gas.. even with regular driving.

i agree. used to work for HD in calgary, canada and noticed prices starting to come down around the end of '05. haven't kept up with bike prices over the last couple of years so not sure how they are now. i do like the victory's though..they're pretty cool too (i'm a female biker and i do like my ride, haha!)

don't know if this has been mentioned yet (since i didn't read all the pages on this thread), but have any of you guys read neil pert's (drummer from rush) "Ghost Rider"? excellent book about his bike journey through canada/u.s/mexico after his daughter died. awesome read.

right now you can get a 2009 883 sporster dirt cheap from HD.

In the local paper they had them listed for $5,899

HD is going bust.

Eheh +1 I would add only maybe a Ducati SS 750 from 1972 and the list is pretty much almost complete for me well no also a Laverda SF750!
The bonneville they started to produce again now are not really comparable to an authentic one from ther 60's or 70's decent but overpriced and without the real feeling the original had.
