Everyone gains experience from being here. It's up to the individual to decide if its the kind of experience which will enhance their existance or not. It may take many lifetimes to decide. No one can judge (which I'm sure is mentioned in the thousands of religious books) who is "good" or "evil".

Because every time someone says, "Oh Jesus, save me!" they get the old "fuck you!" in the form of the silent treatment.

 Quoting: Sandi_T

I duuno it always worked for me.

Do you have a bad attitude?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1081433

Yes. But if it's any comfort, I was raped and beaten a lot. Jesus ignored it, just like he's ignoring the women and children being raped and beaten right now.

Jesus promises to answer prayers and to save people, but why don't you ask me how that worked out for me?

Oh, yeah, it was 3 years of having multiple cocks shoved up my ass at the ripe old age of 3-6 years. All the while begging to be saved and getting brutally raped instead.

Which hey, doesn't really matter. It's not important. What really matters is that this is happening right now, today, to other little children. Women are being kidnapped, shot up with addictive drugs, and forced into prostitution to support their "habit" and to keep from being beaten yet again.

And naturally, the fact that Jesus hasn't bothered to save any of THEM, either, despite many of them begging him to, isn't important.

What is important IS MY ATTITUDE and how it WORKED FOR YOU when you were a sex slave and being raped and beaten and watching other children be raped and beaten, right?

That did happen to you, and Jesus swooped right down and saved you, right?

No?

Wow, what a surprise.

Jesus isn't saving anybody. Wake the fuck up.
 Quoting: Sandi_T

well I am very sorry for what has happened to you.

I was only beaten with a belt frequently by my atheist alcoholic father.

but to answer you directly I did receive the holy spirit wich has helped me over come many problems such as violence, alcoholism and drug abuse.

Re: Why do people hate Jesus so much?
Jesus gave us an indication why he was hated in John 8:31-47. The Pharisees were arguing with Jesus (as usual) and they insisted that “the only Father we have is God Himself”. A small snip of Jesus’ response was “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am now here… You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire”.

It’s really no more complicated than that. Of course, telling someone they are the spawn of Satan isn’t exactly a great way to win friends and influence enemies, and tactless people have given popular Christianity a very bad image by leading off with that instead of grace and forgiveness which is what Jesus emphasized more than anything else.

Jesus also told us that we also would be hated because of him in John 15. It should be no surprise then when you see all the haters that show up on every thread about Christianity. They don’t see themselves for what they are and they are angered because they feel wrongfully accused. They reject the judgment of God Himself. How much more His Son? And we? Yeah, we really piss them off because we are not worthy to judge in the first place and too many Christians forget that.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

When someone can answer this question for me...then maybe I will consider there actually being a "god" somewhere out there. So far he has been nowhere in sight for me. I haven't ever heard him talk to me, not even when I was at my lowest point in life. Where the hell is HE? And what is this falling out and speaking in tongues crap? I think it's all a big show. Anyway, here is my question.....

In Genesis... God created the day, night, the earth, people, animals...everything. Right? When a huge flood comes because man screwed up (which is another issue I have a problem with, since forgiveness is what he is supposedly all about) Noah saves each animal species by loading them up on his famous arc. The Bible even names these species of animals. Look it up. Now with this in mind, where the hell did the dinosaurs come from? I don't recall them being mentioned, and I truly don't think 2 T-rexes are going to fit on any manmade boat. I don't care who made it!

Anyone?....anyone? Any answers? Can't wait to see this. I have asked MANY holy men about this over the last 30 years, and have stumped EVERY one of them. I asked this question first when I was 14 years old. Was even asked nicely to leave one church. Hm. Now how "christian" is that?

Faith and Proof are mutually exclusive. To prove something to someone is to remove God from the equation since the answer must come from a material resource, one that is finite. First you must decide, even if it's only as an experiment (and you must admit that doing this could not harm you) to simply decide to spend time believing. Give it a day, a week, or however much time you are willing to grant the experiment. Really decide that during that time you will be open on every level to believing. Approach reality that way. After the time elapses, then return here and reevaluate your question on your own. Only you can do this. No one else can prove God to you or answer that question.

Thanks! There is good and evil in the human condition...we build them through concepts and put a reality to them...we inject the idea of that concept into the way we percieve reality around us and react to the concept as if it is real.

Though, from a 'universal reality' frame of perception, there is no good or evil. But that can be a very difficult process because so much of the human condition has been mired in the good/evil concepts...HUMAN concepts.

Re: Why do people hate Jesus so much?
they hate the Light and Love the darkness

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you were given word that the Antichrist would come, so now a number of Antichrists have come to you; and by this we are certain that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us but they were not of us; if they had been of us they would still be with us: but they went out from us so that it might be made clear that they were not of us. 20 And you have the Spirit from the Holy One and you all have knowledge. 21 I have not sent you this letter because you have no knowledge of what is true, but because you have knowledge, and because that which is false has nothing in common with that which is true. 22 Who is false but he who says that Jesus is not the Christ? He is the Antichrist who has no belief in the Father or the Son. 23 He who has no belief in the Son has not the Father: he who makes clear his belief in the Son has the Father. 24 But as for you, keep in your hearts the things which were made clear to you from the first. If you keep these things in your hearts you will be kept in the Father and the Son.

As I just said, only you can verify what I've said about demons or about God. Either of them exist not as a material fact that I can prove. You can explore this on your own but first you would have to be willing to concede they might exist. Then you could research it with a mind open to the idea. Since ideas cannot 'harm' you there is no harm in such an experiment. Spend a period of time accepting certain ideas and viewing the world that way. If you are free, as we all are, the idea or the experiment cannot change you unless you let it. If after doing this, sincerely, for a while you can decide for yourself. It is no one's job except for your own to discover your path and to discover your bliss. You are open to what you are attracted to. If you see something beautiful, you want it. If you (rhetorically speaking) see something neat, you notice it. Before you can try something out, have a relationship or do anything you must first be open to it in an affirmative way. If you are not, then no proof will ever prove a thing. You have to wear it for a while and then decide on your own what you believe. If you wore something you did not like you could always change back into your old outfit or some other one later.

That is reality. It is like that. You propagate the reality you are already asserting. Thankfully, if the idea of testing things out as above is scary, one can always change their mind. We are always free to do what we feel we should or want.

I appreciate that.

But the problem here, as I see it, is threefold:

1. Christians just really don't take these things seriously enough. I mean that.

-- What is "you will burn forever" to most Christians? They don't have any concept of this at all. None. When I was a Christian, the idea of people being burned FOREVER was so awful that I often cried at night. What a terrible thing! To suffer forever is unspeakable.

-- Does the average christian even know what actual suffering IS? They seem to have no concept at all. NONE. They will actually crow about the impending suffering of other people... how great it's going to be to see the person who refused to believe them SUFFERING and BURNING in HORRIFIC, UNSPEAKABLE agony... FOREVER. Really? What kind of person can find this anything but deeply, deeply heart-breaking and terrible?

2. There are people out there right now that are truly experiencing things so horrible that they defy the average person's imagination. Rape and torture so severe that they beg and scream and cry for release. And christians just keep going around with this "jesus saves" business and don't realize that some people REALLY NEED ACTUAL SAVING.

-- It's lovely that human experience isn't important, only FOREVER in heaven with Jesus. But when you're suffering horrible things, IT IS IMPORTANT. And when someone says "Save me" they REALLY MEAN IT and they're not hoping to someday, maybe, be able to be happy in some future possible place. Some people need to be saved NOW.

-- The biggest and worst problem with this is the lies. God sends comfort and love to us all... but when religion, especially this religion (and a few others) get involved, it changes the dynamics of what God's relationship is to humanity. And in so doing, IT LIES, and the LIES manage to DESTROY that relationship.

3. Christians start looking for God, and because our culture is permeated by christianity, many find God there. But then they come to believe that, since they found God there, THAT IS THE ONLY PLACE GOD IS.

-- The problems here should be obvious, but let me elaborate anyway. Everyone, when they begin to truly seek God, will FIND GOD. Yet christianity, in order to enslave people spiritually, claims it is the only place to find God (as do a couple of other enslaving religions). But this simply, and obviously, not true. Or so many religions wouldn't all claim to be the ONLY ONE.

God is everywhere. Christianity and Islam (for example) exploit this fact and use it to enslave people to dogma and to beliefs that are actually destructive to the relationship between God and man.

The "holy spirit" or the Presence of God, is available to everyone, even if they don't buy your evil, oppressive religion.

God comforted me, and gave me hope and peace. But I didn't understand this, because I thought God was going to answer my prayers and save me.

I should have had a good relationship with God all along. But I got cheated out of that, by the lies of the bible.

This is true for many people. Cheated out of the right to love and be loved because the LIES get in the way of that genuine relationship.

Christians do not take SUFFERING seriously enough.

christianity, does not take SUFFERING seriously enough.

From a completely secular (universal) outlook this is a good argument. But it still is an argument that is subject to the laws of the universe. Either way, the only question I have is how did humans create a concept of good and evil to begin with?

And by the way, I was a big atheist for MANY years so I have done the REVERSE experiment. The experiment applies to anything. I also agree that some religious people are dogmatic and blind and hypocritical and this makes things really worse. In their case I would have to tell them the same I say to atheists. Do an experiment where you stop judging other humans and visualizing them in fire and brimstone since it's soooo tedious.

There are other choices besides atheism and christianity.

The questions you ask can't be answered in any intelligent way in christianity. Christianity is intended to separate you from God by lying about God.

Just saying, I think you're looking in the wrong place for God, because it doesn't make sense to you (which is because it doesn't make sense).

Please read the post from SickScent. He says it much better than me. hf
