Re: Stray Cat In My Back Yard
I'm back.

About 2 weeks ago the nights started dipping below 50 degrees so I went and picked up a friggan little box.

BTW I looked up her skirt & found that kitty is a she...not a he.

So I let her in & she immediately found the litter box & used it...I was RIGHT! She's not a stray...she's homeless!

Since then we've been doing ok...but I really don't want a cat...STILL...but I want her to have a decent life...and nobody is going to adopt a cat with a cloudy eye...not when there's millions to choose from.

I'm really struggling with this decision :(

Re: Stray Cat In My Back Yard
There's a stray kitty hanging out in my back yard...poor little guy was skin & bones so I started feeding him.

Last night I left the food dish outside & after dark I hear GRUNT NOM NOM NOM...I thought to myself...kitty doesn't make noises like that.

I get the flashlight & look...it's a racoon eating kittys food. And the thing growels at me.

I open & slam the screen door & yell at it...it doesn't care...I shine the flashlight in it's eyes...it doesn't care.

So I just gave kitty a big dinner & I made a new dish of food with lots of tobasco sauce :D

I'm gonna set it outside after dark dance

She's in the house.

It's funny...in the afternoon & evening she wants nothing to do with me...she'd kick me out of the house if she could.

At night & very early mornings she's just a big hairy love :)

It so damn funny!!!

When kitty is hungry she goes to where her food should be & stares at the floor :D

When I see her just sitting in that spot starring at the floor, I know she's hungry.

Kitty played with me for the first time last night banana2

She wanted to play "Grab papas hand & bite it".

It only took 3 months before the cat actually "played"...everything about her screams abuse :(

She knocked over a broom & it made a loud bang. Then she ran away from me as if she was in serious trouble...I spoke softly to her & got close & pet her...she didn't know what to think at first. Finally she started purring.

This whole cat ownership thing is becoming a hoot :)

The other night kitty was demanding I come to bed. It took me a while to figure out what she wanted...once I did I told her "WHAT? DO YOU THINK YOU'RE MY WIFE"?

The an hour ago she wanted to go outside but it's only 30 degrees out there. So I let her out & 15 minutes later I go outside & call "KITTY"...and I heard "MEOW".

I follow the meows until I see she wandered outside the fence and couldn't find her way back :D

Yesterday I'm calling for kitty...looking under tables & behind couches...no friggan idea where she was.

I even check behind the toilet...then I think...she couldn't be in the tub could she?

I pull back the shower curtain & there she sits :D

WTF she's doing in the tub I have no idea...she seems to like it in there. lmao

Everytime she bites you just pull your hand away...if you pet her and she doesn't bite keep petting gently.
She will learn quickly she doesn't need to be defensive, hands are for letting not biting. Also if she bites present her with a toy so she knows if she wants to bite that's the thing to bite.
They learn so fast!!
So glad you took kitty in, cats have moods just like people...you will be able to tell if she's in the mood for affection by her eyes. Squinty eyes means she's feeling cuddly

Blink slowly and softly at her. That's like kitty kisses.

That can actually be a sign of urinary trouble. Like an infection. Cats seek cool places to urninate because it hurts and the cold surface feels good.
You should take her to the vet, cats are amazingly good at hiding pain.
What you are describing is a call for help.

Her litter box is clean (every day).

She's only been in the tub once & she didn't pee in it. But yes she needs to see a vet, I don't know if she has ever seen a vet...but I also don't want to traumatize her in a cat carrier...we just haven't reached that point yet.

And she doesn't bite my hand hard...it's a love bite. She also grabs my hand with her claws but doesn't hurt me...it's only to keep my hand there infront of her.

I keep "holding her hand"...she doesn't know what to make of it...and last night she reached out & put her paw in my hand...she likes it now :)

You have been chosen. Step up and provide an all outside realm. Wood box filled with hay and Diatomaceous Earth (anti-flea and tick). Food and water every day.

In return you get a mouser, large spider killer, squirrel and chipmunk chaser (house damagers).

My Lil She was a stray too. She came to me when she was about four months old.

I'm also sure she was abused....she's extremely aggressive, especially with others. Any others. She's calmed down with me a bit....but I also know the cues of when she's about ready to launch herself on me and I move, fast.

It took this little kitteh SIX MONTHS to purr...I'm nearly certain someone had grabbed her by her neck. Her little meow was so pitiful for a long time. She's starting to open up her voice box a little better these days....lol, and she's more than capable of full on hissing.

I'm fairly certain She showed up at my doorstep - three mornings in a row, mind you - because there's likely not another person in this town who would put up with her aggressiveness. Lil She needs a whole lifetime of understanding.

It really is a wonderful thing you're doing, lovey, giving the little kitteh a home....hugs and for falling in love with her....tounge because that's what you're doing. She's winning your heart over....hf

Lil She likes the bathroom sink. She likes to sleep in it. She curls up in it, fitting perfectly. She also strikes from it perfectly, too. Harhar. That little arm shoots out, paw spread, claws extended....swiping, swiping, swiping.

And yet I love-love her so very much....hf

She does snuggle up to me at night....flower
