Stray Cat In My Back Yard

Our last dog died a few years ago, we recently retired and travel often so it is hard to think about getting a new one until we settle down.


Back when we had dogs, they woke us up in the middle of the night just barking like crazy. I got out of bed to find a stray cat sitting on the kitchen counter. It had come in through the dog door on a very cold night and made itself at home.

He has a cloudy eye...I don't think he can see all that well.

Well it is true, I want to use one missile on thzt motherfucking statue of slavery on Ellis Island, and the other on the pentagon for pissing me off.

I give up on spelling, you get the idea.

BUT!....But...nut what if its a mexican racoon?

Raccoon came up & snarfed down the entire dish...tobasco sauce and all! He even licked it clean.

Only thing is...I think he liked it :/

Wow. It looks like they socialize well. Never thought of one as a pet.

We've got a young outdoor feral cat with one eye that doesn't reflect. Haven't got close enough to see if his eye is OK.

Wife has been feeding him for about two weeks now. Now he waits outside and the tail goes up when you step out, but he won't get near you.

I sometimes leave the back door open when I'm getting the feral cat his food. He'll come walking right into the house and meows while looking to make sure I'm actually fetching his food for him.

Most feral cats don't meow, but he came around while he was just a small kitty and we talk to him all the time so he now meows to talk back to us.

I have a live trap.

I could catch the raccoon & sit down & have a serious talk with him.

I did that to a squirrel once...poor little guy was shittin' his pants.

someone did that to one of my dogs it was awful hope you have a paralyze stroke on a fire ant mound while aids junkys work you over.

OP lots of jackasses leave cats thats how jackasses are.

My three food bowls feed at least five stray cats, a skunk, a huuge racoon and sometimes baby bear also. Oh and a paior of foxes. But, they point is they all dont eat at the same time, and some of these I haven't seen for weeks.

To care for these poor tossed aside animals is really, to understand that all living beings have a soul, and for folks like you and me, we can sense that little spark in them. Yes the harvest is too great, as the bible says, the harvest of pain that is. And yet, cat food and dilligence is not expensive. Why, I kept them alive last winter and will try again this one, and they really love you for it.

I call him a "stray"...but a better word would be homeless.

He doesn't know how to live outside...He's gone alot but he's almost always in my back yard for breakfast and dinner.

By his mannerisms I would guess he was a house cat who was tormented and possibly beaten to a point where he knew he had to leave.

He spent today hanging out in my yard & sleeping on my deck.

It's cute when he's "stalking"...he CLEARLY does not know what he's doing...but he goes thru the motions anyway :)
