No point in looking for work because I live in an oil town and jobs not connected to the oil industry only pay like 8 dollars an hour. Quoting: jkm1864 Immediate plan of action would help. You can rent your house out as one way of keeping it and move in with a friend or relative.. or camper van until you know where you can find work. You could put your house on the market now to get $$$ to relocate. Some folks are camping in campgrounds to get by. Good luck. You have new challenges ahead as do many people now WW. Things will not likely ever be the same again. Lots of people are undergoing major life changes. I hope your path takes you in a direction that will make you happy. I can’t sell or rent because the ex refuses too. I would have to clean this shit hole and sign it over so she could get a lower I interest rate in exchange for low child support. I was hoping to do just that at the end of this season so I could get an apartment and move on with my life but looks like I’m stuck here while she dates another man. Pussy Grabber Extraordinaire |

They are based out of Galveston and normally work out of there. I don’t know if they hire for hydrographic survey but they use them. And I don’t know if they are hiring right now or hiring contractors especially with this virus thing. Suzanne is the HR lady for our department and she is really nice. I am not sure she handles Salvage HR though But they got a massive contract to salvage a car carrier that had ran aground in Georgia. Also, they had a pretty big job out in Aransas refloating barges that were pushed on shore during a past hurricane for Kirby that I was a big part of. I work in a different department than Salvage but work with them often. I don’t think the virus is stopping or slowing business for them. If anything they are making more money. User ID: 78262312 United States 03/25/2020 01:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For what it’s worth, I work in the financial industry and maintain regular contact with many large investors, banks, etc. All institutional players, as well as FHFA and the related agencies. My forte is commercial real estate, including Multifamily, so while not directly related to the single family markets, these are many of the people that make decisions about these things. Understand, EVERYONE is taking a deep breath over this, and ALL are keenly aware of the impact. As such, plans are unfolding by the hour on how best to deal with the fallout, but I can safely say that workouts are very much forthcoming from almost all. Some creditors might give you more grief than others (initially), but most are prepared to forbear mortgage payments or offer other assistance until this crisis abates, and likely beyond as people tries to get their feet back under them. The stimulus package for “millionaires and billionaires” is precisely focused on that premise, and the benefits received by those folks will be passed along to you to the extent possible. This is how some will keep their jobs, and others will keep a roof over their heads, but just know that practically EVERYONE is in the same boat here. The best thing you can do, as others have mentioned, is to reach out to your bank or other creditors, and inform them of the situation. They will work with you. Also know that if push comes to shove, and some idiot bank or creditor attempts to sue or foreclose during this time, not a court in the country will side with them (assuming that you are truly in dire straights, which will be the case with most). So, take a deep breath too, reach out to your creditors if you can, preserve your cash, but take care of your families first and foremost. This too shall pass, and everyone will get back on their feet after this storm. In the meantime, spend your energy researching the various government assistance programs that are just now rolling out, and use what you need to/what’s available. Also, work toward a subsistence mindset. Seeds are cheap and available right now, and this is the time to plant. Hell, we can’t do too much else, so think and research along those lines. In many locations, some of the stuff growing in your backyard is edible. If you live in a neighborhood HOA, begin working with others to plan as if this thing will last longer than we all know. If you have open space, I’m betting others would be willing to help plant it. If this passes soon enough, you get a great garden of home grown veggies while getting to know your neighbors. If this becomes a new normal, you learn to survive. In short, you will not lose your house over this, nor will you be evicted (generally becoming illegal now anyway), so take that stress off your table at least, and focus on yourself and your family. Within the surreal depths of "reality" lies the truth. |

I wasn't the big spender that was the EX but I always saved as much as I could so I was always prepared for long periods of no work. You assume he bought too much house. You didn’t consider that he could have just had cancer or been in a contentious divorce or any other things that can cause someone to get into financial distress. Maybe hie has a sick child. You don’t know. The other thing is that there are a lot of people who bust their asses in school and/or working and expect a salary or wage commensurate with their experience or education. I’ll work for $8/hr if I need to in order to survive, but my first job out of grad school 20 years ago was as an IT security contractor and I earned $75/hr in a small town in Kansas with an incredibly low cost of living. My rate is obviously much higher 20 years later - I personally won’t touch anything under $200/hr now. I know how this guy feels. He can earn $8/hr but he feels like his life is over because there’s absolutely no lifestyle that $8/hr can support other than being homeless. FOOLIO |

As far as the 1200 I won't get any of that because I had a good year in 2018. The fucked up thing about unemployment is yeah i'll make 2600 a month but I have to call 3 employers a week. As of right now there is zero work in the gulf and either people are laying off like crazy or they are hiring people to get ready for the work to start. If I call the people laying off then I'm good because they will just say no they are not hiring but if I call the ones that are staffing up then I'm back to making 1100 a month retainer with zero work. It will be worse trying to look for a job because nothing pays worth a damn in this shit town. Pussy Grabber Extraordinaire |
