Anonymous Coward User ID: 77963312 United States 05/17/2020 07:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The shopping cart is the ultimate litmus test for whether a person is capable of self-governing. Quoting: Where Eagles Dare To return the shopping cart is an easy, convenient task and one which we all recognize as the correct, appropriate thing to do. To return the shopping cart is objectively right. There are no situations other than dire emergencies in which a person is not able to return their cart. Simultaneously, it is not illegal to abandon your shopping cart. Therefore the shopping cart presents itself as the apex example of whether a person will do what is right without being forced to do it. No one will punish you for not returning the shopping cart, no one will fine you or kill you for not returning the shopping cart, you gain nothing by returning the shopping cart. You must return the shopping cart out of the goodness of your own heart. You must return the shopping cart because it is the right thing to do. Because it is correct. A person who is unable to do this is no better than an animal, an absolute savage who can only be made to do what is right by threatening them with a law and the force that stands behind it. The Shopping Cart is what determines whether a person is a good or bad member of society. They hire people to go retrieve the carts as a courtesy to the customers, so that the customers do not have to return the cart. You are trying to make a moral argument out of that? OP, should we also mop the floor on our way out? I mean , it might be morally irresponsible of us to leave dirt on the floor and make the grocery store hire someone to clean it up. Unless I'm reading this incorrectly yes talking about putting your cart into the cart corral and not leaving it in the parking lot where it may roll off into the side of someone's car. People who leave their carts laying about are assholes. |

Someone still has to push it into the building, but they shouldn't have to wander the lot because you're too lazy. When I worked retail, I LOVED going out for carts. Fresh air, exercise, no dumbass coworkers or customers bitching and moaning in my ear. Christmas was the best, I could just stay out there for half of my shift. |

You like to believe that because you're a lazy fuck. You know why you have to stand in line when 10 cash register lines are unmanned? Corporate DOESN'T hire enough people to police up after lazy ass shoppers. And you know that one poor gal that is ringing you up when you finally get to the front of the line? At the end of the night, SHE is the person going out in the parking lot to corral the cart that you were too fucking lazy to return. You're an asshole, and the reason that this thread exists. Doesn't returning carts mean putting them in the cart corrals so they aren't littered in the parking lot? I'm pretty sure that's what they are getting at. Not taking the cart back into store. Quit getting so high and mighty about returning shopping carts as if it is some moral parable that shows how virtuous and caring you are. I was just at the store today and returned the cart as I always do to the stalls in the parking lot. The week before that I curb checked it onto the nearest island in the parking lot because I felt like I was having a heart attack and needed to leave. Sometimes there is a reason, but according to you not returning a cart is equivalent to being a savage. Jesus fuckin’ Christ, get a grip man. |
