Only 7 more than a week ago on Monday (catchup day).

131 vs 138.

If you go by actual date of death and not report date, July 19th so far was the peak at 78 but that probably won't stand.

Was not a post about Greece the country, rather the idiocy that is the Covid Olympics.

Thread which may be of interest to MaximumRex(and others)

B.1.621 (the variant that makes up 10% of sequenced cases in Florida) is possibly not being tracked well enough and could make up a higher proportion of cases than is currently estimated.

It's a 12-tweet thread, here are just two of them:

This is the non greek letter variant, correct? Anyone know if this is considered one of the 'variants of interests'?

So depressing that so many people are fine with forcing people to get injected to live their lives. Here in NYC we will see how many zombies there truly are within the next month.

Yeah, hasn't been designated a greek letter (yet).

July 28, 2021

Public Health England noted last week that there is currently no evidence to indicate that the variant causes more severe disease or evades the efficacy of vaccines. Yet the agency has designated the variant to be under investigation as it continues to conduct lab testing to better understand the impact mutations have on the coronavirus.

The European Center for Disease Control and Prevention has also chosen to assign the variant as one of interest, as evidence could suggest significant impact. But the designation also notes that much of the data is preliminary and marked with many questions.

In the United States, the variant has yet to be named a variant of interest or concern

Interesting, more research on a genetic indicator for severe covid…those with a mutated TLR7 gene. I wonder what genome is at risk, I think this is found in Neanderthal line or Europe? Ancestry?

It makes sense why we either need to use full PPE or hunker down. This is like a never ending cycle. If only we tried to get to zero covid in the beginning. I know its wishful thinking and not possible but still. We could have tried.

Possibly elimination could have been achieved with the older variants. In this new era of variants like Delta which has an insane viral load? Virtually impossible I'd say.

We are truly rolling into an extinction level event.

Slow, but sure.

I warned, when the first reports left Wuhan, that this was a prion causing illness.

I begged people to do all in their power to never, ever get this virus into their bodies.

I warned it is a binary system. And now we see the weapon - the spike, being loaded into as many humans as they can get.

Why?

 Quoting: CoronaCoaster

B.1.621.1 is even more common in New England, was 15% of cases before Delta hit. That's 3% more than P.1 ever made it to.

Considering New England is doing better than pretty much anywhere else and we have the highest prevalence of 621... I think it's a nothingburger strain.

The whole time 621 was ramping up, total cases in NE were still going down.

GISAID might not have it right, but that's totally separate from the CDC tracking as far as I can tell.
