What people need to realize is that this generation became accustomed to food plenty. Previous decades made due with much less, and ate well. If you want good, healthy meals, you need to stop buying pre-made, boxed foods (which make you sick, anyway), and get in the kitchen. You can easily make crusty loaves of bread/rolls, Asian dishes, Italian dishes, etc., for pennies on the dollar, if you make it yourself. |

Americans used to be able to work hard and keep what they earned. Now the government steals everything you have through taxes, fees, fines, inflation, and forfeiture and gives you welfare, but what will you do when the government runs out of money and cuts off the welfare? |

If they ever do? The excuse before was 'oh, the prices of fuel is high so our prices need to go up'.... fuel prices whent way down... and they kept all their prices the same. |

Got a 5lb bag of Thai rice for $4.75 the other day. Was on special (used to be $6 before pandemic). Meat is definitely higher priced everywhere though. |

We have been going weekly to stock up on everything we need. Got our second freezer plugged back in and stocking it up. Freezing eggs big time. A lot of info on youtube about freezing certain foods and other things. |

Now the globalists have exaggerated a virus to kill the economy. You are not allowed to work or start a business and your welfare will be cut if you protest. The huge debt that the ruling powers are creating to deal with the economic collapse will lead to hyperinflation, but wages will be lowered. ATM machines, Internet, water, and electricity will be shut off. The US dollar will be devalued and become worthless. Your $100,000 retirement account will become worth $1000 and bread will cost $100 per loaf. Your property will be taken through huge tax increases and fees. The US will start WWIII with China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea to distract Americans. The US is committing suicide. The USA will have a civil war in 10 years. Soon you will see starving gangs and roving mobs of looters. The US will soon see the Gestapo shooting Americans in the back. Concentration camps will open and Americans will be pushed into gas chambers and ovens. Anyone who has ever read a history book can tell you what will happen. Save yourself. Get out of the US immediately. |

Why not make yogurt, pita bread, NYC noknead bread? Why not cut up inexpensive pork loin which is generally inexpensve? |

Man up. Homemade pot pie can actually be good. Never eat bought pot pie. Lentil stew over rice is inexpensive and tastes good when spiced with curry. You could make some Indian bread to go with it. [link to www.food.com (secure)] Papadams are more like crackers. Pork loin BBQ in the crockpot and homemade potato rolls is a frugal meal. I have food allergies and well that's a heavy price to pay for food at times. I've managed to experiment with what I can eat and figured out how to do it affordably. A lot of ppl shop at expensive supermarkets too. I think that's probably something ppl should think about and compare prices. |

And with the current obesity rates in the U.S. the former is NOT such a bad idea! And locally, prices HAVE returned to near-normal. Those dramatic spikes in the cost of Beef had those panicked toilet paper buyers fighting over the cheapest hamburger they could find, but even steaks are priced right back to where they were in February. Make a standard cornbread but put half a can of creamed corn in it for sweetness. Yum. |

It is every day items like shampoo and cleaning supplies. I saw a jug of Tide for $24.00, and that was supposed to be a sale price. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79225385 Then, don't buy TIDE - which has ALWAYS been at the top of the cleaning heap where prices are concerned! Swallow your pride a little bit and use cheaper house brands instead of filling your shelves with products whose pricing reflects the heavy advertising costs they need to convince consumers to buy them. |

At my local Wal-Mart yesterday, I did some moderate food shopping there. I went there mostly for a $100 Steam card so I could get that Horizon Zero Dawn game that became available for purchase yesterday afternoon. Anyways, I saw that the Wal-Mart parking lot had roughly half the customer base they used to have say six or seven months ago. Food prices easily roughly doubled this time last year. Heck! I saw more people having abandoned their various alcoholic beverages in random places throughout the places in Wal-Mart than I have ever seen before. Apparently alot of people had to make tough choices -- "Do I get shit-faced tonight or do I get these few food choices and have a few dinners instead?" Someone left a twenty four ounce can of Bud Light on a shelf in the Electronics Department. I guess they would much rather get a game they could play for days, or weeks on end instead of getting shit-faced for just one night. Lots of hard choices are being made these days, man. There's time to tecah them how to make a campire and do haybox cooking. There's time to dig a Dakota hole fire and use it. Practice. Use baking soda instead of toothpaste. Use apple cider vinegar instead of deoderant. Use a little oil instead of shaving cream. Improvise Adapt Overcome Pretend the SHTF and you have to eat what is on hand. Hmmm. Maybe you need to.fill your pantry with inexpensive food. Maybe you ought to have a box of lard and velveta cheese on hand and powdered milk and extra flour, yeast, and sugar. |
