Boston

chuckle

No really. I went the first time when I was 18. We took a cab from the train station (which is near Wrigley field) to our hotel.
The cabbie told us we had to drive through an area called the war zone.
There was an actual shooting as we drove through.
We drive right next to the body lying on the ground all bloody, not moving.
It was unnerving at the time.

I've been in many creepy places since.

A lot of places family have lived in pa that’s old as hell and has a lot of history. Kinzua going out towards Erie is pretty cool!! A tornado knocked the bridge down along time ago and you can still see it’s path shredded trees everywhere. It’s like a beach pier in mid air hundreds of feet up. There’s even glass you can stand on at the end. I always wanted to visit Gettysburg but haven’t went yet.

I grew up in Eastern PA and yes, really old houses with dark, damp, creepy, dirt floor basements. Inspiration for every Lovecraft story ever penned.damned

A friend and I were cleaning report houses in Baton Rouge,La. she was in the back portion and I was in the front of the house. It was night time and I got a very weird feeling. I decided we needed to leave, she met me in the hall and was coming to say we needed to leave also. We left then found out the next day that a serial killer killed another woman in that neighborhood. It was a weird danger feeling. I’m glad we left.

I am very sensitive and that entire town creeps me out. dark, heavy atmosphere. Even on a bright, sunny summer day, it feels dark, foreboding and oppressive to me. I have even seen "pass throughs" in my dad's house during the day. The stuff that lurks in the fields around the house is stuff nightmares are made of. I can keep them at bay when we are there, but my energy is tapped in a few days, and I have to get away.

I've worked third shift security in some old hotels. Bats flying down the halls. No guests or employees there, just me. (Because of Covid.)

I had a key ring the size of a soft ball. Just me walking around everywhere with access to everything. I actually liked it. (Aside from the bats).

Yep once a place i went too.

Weirdly two of my uncles have supposedly committed suicide there, but both deaths had doubts on whether they were suicides.

I went there inbetween the two deaths, and never really knew at the time of the first one.

The only time in my life i was scared, and i just wanted out of there.

Back then i was so sensitive, and thats all i would say.

Re: Creepiest places you have ever visited?
Tripping on acid on my 16th birthday, on some very high cliffs in a town called Long Eddy. There was a quarry below and I almost stepped off by shear luck my cousin reached and caught me.
What made it weird were the locals that rolled up on 4 wheelers. They just appeared from the woods seemingly from every angle. It was a scene right out of Deliverance minus the rape + 4wheelers. We negotiated passage with half a joint and a couple of beers.

There are towns in depressed areas of upstate NY that seem like time has passed them by. This is one of them. The people look like people from the old days, like they don't even make people like that anymore.

Foreclosed houses

I go in and take pics for appraisals

You can tell a lit of them didn’t know it was coming and left in a hurry

It’s scary

Food on the table and dishes in the sink ... toys and baby items not taken

Knock at the Door

They grabbed what they could in a little time

Shelves of canned goods left

Laptops and video games still out in living room

Newspapers from several YEARS AGO - had one in 2013 I went in and papers and mail were all from 2008 ... mold in bedroom from roof leak...

One had a foot of water in the basement

Clothes in the closets

Lawnmower and tools in the shed or garage

They just LEFT

And I wonder about the families ... put out after unemployment ate up their life like a ravenous wolf back in that crash

The sentiments still linger of hurry and fear

I pray for them and their babies that they are safe and happy now.

Lots of saleable stuff - they didn’t even get to have a garage sale and get some cash together.

Food clothes tv’s appliances furniture disgusting with mice and spiders and sometimes mold

It’s heartbreaking

Similar experience
Going through a house with our realtor. As soon as we stepped in you could feel "it". Now, I'm the only woo woo in the fam, but all three of us looked at each other and turned around and got the hell out of there before even walking past the first room.

Re: Creepiest places you have ever visited?
The Grey Whale Inn [link to i1.wp.com (secure)] on Highway 1 in Fort Bragg California, it was built as a lumber company hospital back in 1915 and the owner had made no attempt to make it look like anything else.I arrived there with my wife on the proverbial dark and stormy night back in the winter of 1979.
Going from floor to floor was done on long gradual wheel chair ramps and the massive operating lamps were still the primary lighting in the larger guest rooms. Beds were the old industrial strength hospital types with sides that could be moved up and down too. The place just had an air of lingering agony and pain to it that set in on both of us very quickly.

Another place with an extremely bad vibe to it was the old Brand family graveyard in Glendale California but you can almost expect that from an old secluded graveyard. Interesting statuary and a small stone pyramid though with a family picnic area of all things, for sunny days when visiting the ancestors I guess.

The pyramid and a couple of the childrens graves: [link to ucarecdn.com (secure)]

Come to think of it, the graveyard in Virginia City, Nev, the old one, was particularly creepy in full day light. One of several creepy/haunted places I've been or lived/stayed at.

Oh, my gosh... I’m the same... when the energy is so dense and negative I have headaches and it takes me weeks to get better.

Few years ago my sister was visiting from Canada and wanted to go to the Ground Zero in New York... I’m not lying, 5 weeks I couldn’t stop crying, for no reason I was just crying and being anxious all the time... it was like a nightmare... I so regret going to that hell place... it’s like a open door to hell... it’s so disturbing to see the victims’s personal stuff covered with blood... oh, my, I think they opened that museum just to collect more and more energy from the living.

Re: Creepiest places you have ever visited?
The Parthenon in Nashville. From the outside it’s pretty cool. Going inside, it felt really creepy. Like Epstein probably has apartments and underground tunnels below, creepy. There was nothing in particular I could put my finger on. Other than the giant golden goddess statue watching me. But there was something else. It felt evil. One of the things that I thought odd was that there really isn’t a purpose to it. There’s no big reason as to why they wanted to build it. Why it is important. No artist story about why it was meaningful. Just stuff about the process of building it. I found that incredibly odd. It was very emotionally cold and harsh for something like that.
