Anonymous Coward User ID: 80438636 Macao 06/02/2021 09:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I can totally see how you felt that way about Gwen Stefani. I felt the same way about her at the time. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78989490 Gwen Stefani was a dead ringer for Alicia Silverstone in the early 90s as you can see here. It was really a golden era of attractive women. Imagine thinking a woman like this was just a little above average. I can't believe I was lucky enough to live through that. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Gwen Stefani went from being that angelic goddess to being this monster. With that said, this commercial did air during the last Super Bowl. Did she succeed or fail in life? [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Gwen Stefani in that ad gives me major clone/reptilian or demonic possession vibes. I can't believe the "Gwen Stefani" in the two videos above are the same person. Anyone else getting that? This is exhibit A for why marriage is a terrible idea these days. Imagine falling in love with the woman in the first video and ending up with the woman in the second video thirty years later. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80010654 The point is where are these types among the young people. There are no Alanis Morissettes, Sheryl Crows, Fiona Apples, Jewels, or any of the other types of female icons from the 90s mentioned in this thread out there today. The edge is gone. The spirit is gone. Taylor Swift is a great song writer, but she's got no edge with her constant sappy, corny, repetitious love songs. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80438636 Macao 06/02/2021 10:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fiona Apple took a Beatles song and improved it a lot. I never realized how deep it was until I heard her sing it. She brought out the meaning or possibly added it in. I am very certain no one could do this today including her. The thing is that in the 90s this incredible accomplishment didn't seem very special. That's unbelievable. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80438636 When Taylor Swift is edgy, it comes off as silly. This is a very edgy idea for a song and video, but it comes off as a joke. When you compare this to the examples of edginess from the 90s, I think the point of this thread is apparent. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 2476229 United States 06/02/2021 10:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "The 90s" immediately jumped the shark in 1992, when Bill and Hillary Clinton became "co-presidents." And 90s women Jumped the shark when Rose McGowan showed up with Marilyn Manson wearing "The Ass Dress." And Ellen's TV character "came out as gay." Not Ellen DeGeneres. Her CHARACTER on a TV show that was created by a team of liberal California screen writers. And that other show that materialized out of nowhere "Queer as Folk." I fucking hated the 90s. We went down the shitter, and never recovered. |

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Taylor Swift's future is a future that involves 27 cats that all MEOW at the same time! She'll NEVER be able to keep a guy, because despite how hot she is, no guy will ever take her seriously in the long term if he has to sleep with all those fucking CATS every night! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78032039 I love the 80s, but I'm convinced the 90s were superior in terms of pop culture. This thread is only about women in the 90s. Just look at this list. 10 Best Female Rockers of ’90s [link to diffuser.fm (secure)] This thread hasn't even scratched the surface of the topic yet. When I consider the diversity, creativity, originality, edginess, and style of female musicians in the 90s versus the 80s, I go with the 90s easily. We haven't even discussed Bjork in this thread yet, and she deserves her own thread like this. She peaked in the 90s for sure. And there so many others like that who had no equivalent in the 80s. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 68998005 United States 06/02/2021 11:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For example, No Doubt gave a free concert near where I lived in the mid-90s. I drove my sister and her friend to the concert, but I just stayed in the car because Gwen Stefani didn't even seem like anything special to me then. Looking back, that's insane because she was so gorgeous and cool and talented, but back then I thought of her as just a little above average. I am not exaggerating at all. The thing is, there is no one like Gwen Stefani in her prime around anymore. Do you see what I mean? This is video of a No Doubt show around that time. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] She was dating my friends son back in the day when she was just starting to get radio play. They rode in the back seat of my honda to Disneyland. I just remember her being excited about her song being played... Who knew she would become so popular. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 74873148 United States 06/02/2021 11:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My prime was in the 90s, so I have an affinity for that time. With that said, I think it was the peak of human civilization. We had the greatest technology and culture before the Internet degraded and ruined everything. I can see making a case for earlier time periods being better, but I don't see anything beating the 1990s. If you do, please explain. 1990's were definitely better than anything after. But the 1950's-1980's were better. But I'd take even the Great Depression/Dust Bowl/World War 2 days of the 1930's and first half of the 1940's any day over anything from 9/11/2001 onwards, and especially over 2020 or 2021. Just claiming that doesn't help. What's your rationale for those claims? Are you under 20? . Then you just will not/ can not understand. You used to have to talk to people, remember their details and make an effort. Things weren’t done only on looks like today. |

There's been no music since and there was nothing before that was like what she did in the 90s. I remember listening to this song back then and thinking that it sounded so futuristic, and it made me excited for the future. Little did I know that nothing would sound this way again. For those who may think the 80s and 90s distinction is irrelevant, there was so much unique music in the 90s that sounded nothing like anything that existed previously. Anonymous Coward User ID: 72273827 United States 06/03/2021 03:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | American women have been a disaster for several decades starting probably in the 1960s. In the 1990s I was dating girls that were immigrants from South America and Europe they were way way better and still are. American women can f****** burn in hell Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78554672 ~~~~~ Well, way to clump everyone all together. I always was & still am down to earth, genuine & nice to everyone... Unless I know or sense you are evil. No tattoos, no promiscuity, one BF / husband & could have married just about anyone. I had far more male attention than I wanted. I’d never cheat or flirt with someone else’s man... I don’t lie either. I made my husband’s failing business a success & raised our children. Today few have morals & most have ugly tattoos... Such eye sores. More & more are attacking each other in public & have countless sex partners in private. Lying & cheating has surpassed decency. I have learned through enormous loss & grief that our Father in Heaven, Jesus & the Holy Spirit speaks. He comforts & healing miracles are fact. We are entering a critical time where everyone will know the truth. Now is the time to pick which side you are on if you have not already. This escalating evil will be stopped by the one who created this once beautiful world. We are in the midst of the most profound Spiritual Battle in the History of the World. Jesus is the Way, Truth & Life! ~~~~ |
