Driver who stopped to help when truck carrying 100 lab monkeys crashed in Pennsylvania and put her hand in one of the cages says she now has a cough and pink eye: CDC urges anyone in contact with the macaques to seek medical attention. Quoting: Dangerous Times A truck carrying around 100 monkeys that crashed in Pennsylvania is now sparking fears of infection after a woman who came into contact with the primates began to feel unwell. Michelle Fallon, from Danville near Scranton, was driving directly behind the vehicle when it crashed, throwing animal crates all over the highway and smashing some to pieces. Four of the animals escaped and were seen sitting among the wreckage before they fled. Fallon said she got out to help both the driver and the animals in their cages, initially believing them to be cats. When she approached and put her hand on the cage, she says the monkey hissed at her. The day following the accident, Fallon suddenly developed a cough and pink-eye, which became so bad that she had to visit the emergency room at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Fallon has been told to keep a close eye on her health for the next month in case she develops any infectious disease as a result of being so close to them. Look at the picture on this story. The scene seems wrong. I've seen a lot of truck accidents in my time over the road and local. The amount of debris on the road and why the monkeys are being exposed to the outside air makes me wonder what is going on. Animals such as these would need to be in a temperature controlled truck. Unless the dump truck struck the trailer and made a hole those monkeys should still be in that trailer staying at temp. The route makes sense as animals can not be confined more than X hours inside trailers. If they had gone down 95 they would have hit massive traffic and delayed. So the route makes sense. For those who don't know DC Philly and NYC are terrible for traffic even at off rush hours. Really you are only going to go through fast late night very early morning. Someone on another website says this is going to be a cover story for vaccine injuries. She was also given 14 days of valacyclovir, which treats hepatitis. The vaccine supposedly accumulates a lot in the liver, and hepatitis is a liver disease. It's not clear from their post whether the monkey itself provides a cover story for vaccine injury, or whether the monkey story is justification for giving people a new anti viral medication which will cause problems in the vaccinated. |

If these are live animals that need food and water they should take the quickest route. Quoting: Agent 99 Was there weather or traffic delay that day? I checked Google Maps and Danville would be direct on the route if going to St. Louis. However, as you say it makes no sense to go on a 15 hour drive to St Louis when temperatures were between 0F to 20F on the route that day. A temperature controlled trailer would have been a requirement. I'm just not buying anything about this story because of all the misinformation I've seen in the news stories. |

Seems legit. Follow-up Question: Is this sort of cargo transport so common that there's a distribution center in NY where they get sent out from... or could we not get the special order of infected monkeys a direct flight from South Africa to Florida and cut out the middle man? If this is common, maybe this is the sort of thing Congress should spend time regulating versus inventing new ways to harass the average shlub trying to live their lives to avoid monkey business. |

This whole story reeks of bullshit to me…to “convenient” and too much like an urban legend-type happening. Quoting: Little Red Hen BINGO!!! THIS WAS DONE ON PURPOSE!!!! I was telling my wife about this the other day and I was like why would they have to shoot the monkeys and kill them instead of putting them to sleep? UNLESS THEY WERE CONTAGIOUS AND SPREADING A VIRUS!!! SORRY FOLKS BUT IT'S OUT THERE NOW AND IT WILL SPREAD...WHATEVER IT IS!!! Last Edited by NoCap on 01/25/2022 07:10 AM |

Two years of cluster F thanks to a Wuhan lab dumpster fire... and we have infected monkeys just being hauled around by Jethro the last mile monkey delivery man (because his fares were the cheapest), in a standard tow-behind (unmarked) cargo trailer, on icy roads, taking the longest route, along the entire population dense Eastern seaboard of the United States? This is like a scene right out of the 1995 movie: "OUTBREAK". Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80104801 Check it out: [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] I had to laugh at their choice of monkey for that movie scene. It's a capuchin monkey that is found in the new world, and this is supposed to be in Africa. All prehensile tailed monkeys are from the new world, all of them. The screwed this up in a lot of the Tarzan movies too. And the strange bird call you always hear in Tarzan movies is a kookaburra which is from Australia. |
