<Those idiots should have gotten OUT OF THE PATH OF THE HURRICANE... They were SERIOSULY warned and chose to ignore it. Therefore, they have no right to bicker and whine about whomever feels gracious enough to rescue their idiot asses. they dont really deserve sufficient response.>

Ok dumbass, here's ONE possible reason:
Evacution: More dangerous than the hurricane
When it looked like Hurricane Rita might be headed our way, city officials declared mandatory evacuations in some areas near flood zones, and voluntary evacuation for the whole city. This lead to the exodus of hundreds of thousands of people from Houston in private vehicles. It appears that more people may have died as a result of the evacuation than due to hurricane Rita itself.

A number of Houstonians wrote about their expeiriences leaving town and have writen articles analysing the evacuation policy: 2 folks and 2 dogs: One evacuation story | Mark Waller :Fleeing Houston | Jennifer : a rita blog | Miah: another rita blog | Lindar Privileged Pig's Vacation | Nick Cooper: Attention Walmart Shoppers, You're On Your Own

I have a sister-in-law there and I don't want to hear some F#cked up kid coming on here talking shit about something they know NOTHING about! The above link and story was told to me FIRST HAND by my sister-in-law who sat in 18 1/2 hours in a horrendous traffic jam to get for Rita. People DIED sitting in the traffic jam! Secondly they called this storm at a Cat.2 hurricane. Different tv stations all over Texas stated different reports about the storm. And they told people to "hunker down" where ever they were!

"And as he clicks his remote, the screen just goes blank and he turns and looks at someone who is off camera with a puzzled look (someone who apparently was giving him info or a "cut it" sign) and he sighs, then remarks, "well, it seems that we don't have that video" or something along that line."

I don't trust that Mayor of Galveston. I remember her from last time.

From ABC13, 15-20,000 people still on Galveston Island.

And they cannot take care of them, and need them to leave.

What IS bad is the idea that the rest of us, mainly those of us of the more populous north eastern states, are once again expected to bail out all those asshats who cannot bear the winter weather we deal with.
Fuck those idiots.IF they insist on living in Hurricane Alley, they should damn well bail THEMSELVES out. This time and every other fucking time.

If this shipping channel remains closed it will affect all exports going out of the US. They export worldwide.

'During the year, the Port added eight new shipping services reaching 30 ports from Antwerp and Odessa, Russia to Buenos Aires and Freeport in the Bahamas. No shipping line decreased service out of Houston in 2001. The Port also participated in five major projects moving nearly 9,000 tons of fabricated machinery to locations in Yemen, the Ivory Coast, Kuwait, Nigeria and the Peoples Republic of China. And the Port of Houston last year became the exclusive import point for all Rolls Royces and Bentleys shipped into the U.S.

Mr Khazar (or is it Ms?), it appears you are truly one in need of some anger management classes, perhaps along with seeking out a path of inner study through a Tibetan Lama, or a Vedic Yogi?

People end up living in all sorts of places that are dangerous and high risk to their safety & health. Mass disasters are now happening in the most unexpected places across the USA and around the world ... things are getting strange and who is to really know the truth about such events taking place and if some are warfare via secret manipulations or if due to global warming, or ??? And most people must work in order to survive and thus many live and work in places such as Houston with its Shipping Ports and Oil fields ... elements that are essential to the economy of any nation, especially a super power.

So whomever or whatever you really are, that name being used of Khazar, hmmmmmm ... it reminds one of the "Khazarians" as discussed by Dr. Peter David Beter in is remarkable revelations about secret entities who work covertly to bring about control over humanity & earth through their hidden goals & methods? Your outburst of hatred and evil intent certainly seems to indicate deeply embedded sentiments against many humans.

KHAZARS: This is the website & transcripts of Dr. Peter David Beter, a top-level military and international trade attorney who worked with the U.S. Supreme Court and as a special envoy for President John F Kennedy.

His Introduction Section gives brief background account of the 3 main factions that have been & still are fighting for control over the Earth for centuries.

Read the section entitled: "Politics: The Three Rival Factions for World Power" The 80+ transcripts linked on the main page give details about world events and the insider truth about many events and power factions, etc.

Re: Galveston reports- Katrina II
At 1:11 pm CDT, CNN reporter Betty Ngyuen is now back on again live (at least they are giving some coverage) and she is starting by saying this at beginning:

"DESPERATION IS NOW STARTING TO SET IN"

And going into how long power restoration will take in the most devastated areas, showing long lines waiting for supplies,,, talking about the scope and mass area of the storm. People are starting to load up on buses to evacuate as this is going to take long time and nothing there for them to survive.

Says ... 150 buildings destroyed in Galveston (assuming commercial property - business buildings & not houses)

Chad Meyers in CNN newsroom is going to give numbers ... saying that there are 600,000 without power in Cincinatti, Ohio right now from Ike damage there.

OH WAIT ,,, now he, Chad, is going to show that video that was earlier not allowed or available. Okay, now he is going through the same scenario I posted earlier at noon ,,, Google earth street ,,, says this are is BERMUDA BEACH on Galveston Island. Same blue beach house image and the ones across road on beach side. He counts 5 out before storm ...

Next image is the I-report that has been sent after the storm and there are 4 houses in that row across road along shore that are gone ... the 5th one at far end still can be seen in distance. And there is no longer any beach as it used to be, it just drops off at edge of road into small strip down below, and is showing piles of concrete rubble piled up like there was a wall or pier that came apart ?

I've spent lots of time in Galveston since my entire life as a Texan but not lived there. Here's map to search easy: [link to maps.google.com]

OMG ... after map, I see this is the area that's real close to town, one of the first beach house developments after the seawall ends at west end of town. That rubble may be parts of the seawall coming apart during the storm? The place is between the seawall and the Galveston State Park camping area so some of you may know that area:

This shows map of Bermuda Beach homes & the streets with house #'s: [link to www.bermudabeach.org]
-----------------------

Okay, now CNN showing live feed incoming from a cameraman who is now over on the Bolivar Peninsula with first footage up close --- and are going to go back to him live after commercials.

Exactly! People don't realize that FEMA pays for tornado damage year after year, ice storm damage YEAR AFTER YEAR, mudslides and wildfires YEAR AFTER YEAR, and on and on the list goes. They can go to the FEMA websites and see how much money FEMA pays out per state and by year.

And someone has to run the oilfields, pipelines and refineries that supply this nation with almost 30% of refined oil and natural gas.

Use to be a bumper sticker the old timers in the oilfield put on their cars that read: LET THEM FREEZE IN THE DARK.

Or Texas and Louisiana could always impose an huge tax to other states for the oil & gas that is supplied and shipped out of here FOR THEIR BENEFIT, while keeping our prices very low.
And this has been discussed recently.
