I don't know about where you guys live, but here in SC Ozarks, I'd be surprised if more than 2% wear masks in stores. And here's a little tip. The super Walmart nearest to us WILL NOT do curb side delivery. The employee said that if you're symptomatic, you should just go ahead and come in the store. The manager said it would be best if you didn't, but you need to go online and place an order with the Walmart an hour away that will do curbside. So people who are sick need to drive a long distance. And many of the elderly have no ability to place online orders. The "it's just the flu and no one actually gets really sick" propaganda has won out. Just quit worrying about them and wear your own. Keep sanitizer in your car and make sure you wipe down all your groceries with disinfectant when you get home. I was an early mask wearer before most started. When this started, probably only see about two or three others in the store wearing the masks. Now you only see a handful that don't wear one and we have an ordinance in place! Eventually, they will start wearing them more when they see the virus is actually there. Make sure your older relatives at least have some masks to wear and stress the importance they wear them shopping because they are higher risk. Or do the shopping for them. Oh, and don't forget to tell them about sanitizing their hands and their milk jugs! |

The "it's just the flu and no one actually gets really sick" propaganda has won out. Last week I was thinking the same thing, full scale blow up, but of the 45 cases my county has had only 2 are on isolation. Our numbers have held steady for a week (we did add 1 today) Over all the state in total is seeing a rise but I think SC Ozarks is leveling off, masks or no masks. I had an opportunity to speak with a paramedic and other hospital peeps (thanks to one massive Menieres attack) the general idea seems to be that masks hold bacteria in and therefore are unhealthy and the fact that virtually no one is in the hospital with covid makes masks kind of not necessary. Most of the patients in the hospital didn't have on a mask and while the drs and nurses did, they were more than happy to "move it" when they thought no one was looking You have to train your mind to be stronger than your emotions or you will lose yourself every time |

Or do you mean hospitilization? As to the bacteria issue, you should wash them and only wear them if you go into stores or close inside places that aren't your own home. There's so much BS everywhere about masks it's actually quite incredible. 172 Lancet studies that haven't been withdrawn as erroneous show they are effective at mitigating spread. Shouldn't be a constant thing at all. And I totally get why employees wouldn't want to wear them all day long. Completely. Tbh, I don't think they should, but should have more regular breaks, like every 45 minutes or something. If you're doing physical work and/or it's hot and humid, it's flatly NOT an option. If you're just going into a store for 20 minutes it's not an issue. And it's only mitigation. It takes about a month for events to show any increase in this stupid thing. Like up to 2 weeks incubation then at least a week until real symptoms set in. So it isn't this instant thing. And hopefully it is actually weakening in virulence. I'm hoping so anyway! Isolation, there have only been 1 or admitted into the hospital and they came out just fine, no deaths. One lady was on Howell county health dept comments section talking about it and answering questions. We did have 3 new cases today, they come from an out of state exposure. As fast as the cases come in, they go out. Apparently it takes almost as long for the test results to come in as it does for isolation. The state had a huge jump today 795 new cases, and I honestly believe we have always had a lot of cases, most people just didn't know and now that testing is common we are just showing more. You have to train your mind to be stronger than your emotions or you will lose yourself every time |
