all cops take note. the justice system will throw you under the bus if it makes political sense to them at the time.

Yep, and because US-hating liberal law enforcement officials James Comey of the FBI and John Brennan of the CIA played the leftwing game in DC to their heart's content, they got off scott free.

Politics, baby, it's what's for breakfast.

I don't know if he killed him, but if you involve yourself in someones airflow and they suffocate, you own at least part of that. Im not nearly as fat as that guy but I cant breath bending over to tie my shoes. I can easily see how you could suffocate a fat guy high on drugs by kneeing his neck. He was subdued and there 4 other cops standing around. He was showing his power to the crowd. They should have loaded him up after he was subdued.

i think floyd ultimately died of an OD, but chauvins indifference to his limp corpse, and hauling him off like a rag doll at the end of the video is likely the real source of fury.

and honestly it is pretty contemptible. he seemed to have no regard for his life, junky or not.

You cant even restrain a junky resisting arrest cause they might die of 3x lethal dose of fentanyl and meth and its your fault.

That’s what they want but you can’t blame the police if you don’t support them I personally don’t but only if we have no infringement on the 2nd amendment otherwise that won’t work and we need police

He propably died of the overdose but the way he was handeled is shameful. You don't hold someone on the ground with your knee on his neck like that.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79058489

I'd normally agree with that, but Floyd was twice Chauvin's size and hopped up on drugs. It was a hold designed to immobilize and subdue a larger person. Textbook.

Re: I'd be quitting today if I was a cop.
Yeah. You get a call about a counterfeit $20 and some junkie decides to eat a bunch of fentanyl. You have to arrest the guy, but he is extremely high on drugs and has become a danger. You subdue him and a few minutes later he dies of an OD.

You get charged with a crime, video evidence proves you did not act as accused (kneeled on his neck) and the prosecutions law enforcement expert says you were justified using that hold or even more force (a taser).

The jury is apparently too busy watching Maxine Waters threaten them, so they send you to jail because they don't want their lives ruined by an angry mob.

I get that there is another side, but there was reasonable doubt and a hell of a lot of it. This is jurors voting out of fear of the mob and it will continue because the left will make damn sure it does. Much tougher to replace the system when one side supports it. They need to turn everybody against it and this is how they do it. Soros funded prosecutors that let people go for violent acts in a 'just cause' and jail time for people for doing their job or acting in self defense (like Zimmerman).

Re: I'd be quitting today if I was a cop.
There are several things I have to keep in mind in this case.

1.The cops were there because they were called to investigate a crime.

2.GF had multiple opportunities to cease resisting, the most significant of them when he was loaded into the police car.

3.IF he had submitted to being arrested then, we would not have this thread.

The ACLU and and every grifter (Sharpton, Watters, catfish Jackson, BLM, kamel Toe Harris, the bail project) would come to his rescue legally.

4. This cop wrestled with this big thug for quite a spell attempting to get him transported to be booked. His adrenaline was likely exhausted and possibly crashing during his time restraining GF. That coupled with the aggravation of the entire incident could have affected his thought processes and concept of passing time. who knows?

Cops make around 45-60 grand per year. They owe no one their lives in order to keep the peace, yet 264 of them were killed in the line of duty in 2020. As others have mentioned, this case sets some horrible precedent.

I'd get educated /trained in another field and get out now!

Tell the politicians you won't put you're life at risk knowing you will get railroaded if you have to use force.

We can expect a bunch more cops to quit in the coming weeks and months because of this.

Well, any cop could be justified kneeling on the neck of someone who has been given hundreds of opportunities to comply, but refusing every single time.

Back in the days of common sense and reason, a cop would simply crack you across the bridge of your nose with his baton if you resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted, and resisted.

Re: I'd be quitting today if I was a cop.
if you are on a budget or are restricted to getting 1 firearm for whatever reason get a handgun.

it has far more utility than a shotgun as far as personal defense.

ammo really isn't scarce so much as just expensive so get something halfway affordable so you can train with it.

i recommend a snub or 4" revolver in common caliber, 38 special, 357 mag, can never go wrong there

or, a compact semi auto, like a glock 43, glock 42, or some prefer the sig 365. can't really go wrong with any, modern firearms are high quality, just be sure to train with it, and get a GOOD holster - don't skimp out! no mexican carry! even better is a holster with active retention if you don't need to do ITWB conceal carry, like a safariland holster - those are what the pros use.

anywho, all the best to you.

That's what happened when I was a kid. The cops were big beefy Irish guys who were generally pretty good natured but they wouldn't take any shit. They'd try to talk you into good behavior - take a walk around the block, that stuff, but if you ever went at one of them - CRACK - right across the nose or whatever. It was very effective. We also had foot patrols which I think was part of the reason the crime rate was SOOOO low. We didn't lock our doors until the Boston Strangler murders started - I think it was 64. We need to go back to hiring big easy going guys who like people but don't take shit and give them the leeway to just crack someone upside the head occasionally because they almost always deserve it. No little guys and NO WOMEN ON THE FRONT LINE. Women tend to use their guns much more quickly and are not able to take the pressure or control a much larger suspect.

Big guys probably would not have had so much of a problem with Floyd who was 6'6" 225 and much larger than any of the officers in that crew.

Not everybody can do the job - you need to hire big, easy going guys who know how to take someone out fast if they have to - physically, not by shooting (unless it's essential). This is a problem created by the LEFT with their never ending quest for "equity" - the guys (and women) they hire are not big or tough enough for the JOB.

In general I think this is a good idea. In the neighborhoods. Sometimes it overlaps though when police are outside of a neighborhood like on highway or mall. But I think segregation increasingly is the way to go in our society. Black people are too difficult to get along with, much too sensitive and unreasonable and so many support criminal behavior anyway. You know it's true.

I've pondered the same thought. But the narrative the media wants is that COPS ARE BAD! The media and politicians want to exclude blacks from accountability. It seems to be a form of reparations (without calling it that)

Those entities want to strip intuitive learning as a defensive mechanism. It is likely the most important defense weapon they possess in arrest encounters.
