NOT SO MUCH ANYMORE! For several years it's been the practice of many Directors to use remote monitors and direct scenes away from the actors. Both Oliver Stone and James Cameron famously sit in a separate tent doing this. This serves two purposes: 1. it give the actors more freedom without having someone breathing down their neck and 2. the director can see exactly what the camera does. It all depends upon what type of playback setup was being used on RUST.

But, that still begs the question of why that gun would even be pointed in the direction of ANY crew member? And of course, why it was loaded with live cartridges in the first place? Guns on-set are ALWAYS kept under lock-and-key and strictly supervised the entire time they aren't; industry standards dictate they are not to be left unattended for a split second.

Having said that...

It's just possible that -asshole that he is- Baldwin demanded to rehearse with live ammo to get the "feel" of the scene and some Coked-up flunky forgot to reload the weapon with blanks. As scab labor just might do... since IATSE filed a grievance against the production for using non-union hires as well as housing some crew 50 miles away from the location.

There's a lot MORE to this story than we've heard so far and as the Exec-Producer/star, Baldwin's gonna' have to fall on the sword on this one, especially since he was also the triggerman!

But, wanna' bet he'll never do time for the crime? If this goes to trial it'll be an instant circus: not an OJ three-ringer, but still a media show. And I expect that grade-A bastard Baldwin to walk at the end.

The guy who most notoriously played Trump- and the chick he killed is connected to Russia and married to a Clinton attorney? ...really?

I find it interesting that, in reading another thread, that the same prop master who was in charge of the gun that killed Brandon Lee was also on this set where this woman died.

Is it possible that we have a serial killer here? I mean, what are the odds of the same man being in charge of props and live ammo being put in both guns?

The prop master was only 23 years old, which means she wasn't even alive when Brandon Lee was killed in 1993.

The assistant director handed Baldwin the gun which the 23 year old prop master was in charge of.

That director worked on the SEQUEL to "The Crow", which was filmed 7 years after Lee died. Nobody was killed in the making of that film, although it was so terrible you could say that the franchise was murdered during filming.

What if Baldwin was set-up??

“If someone actually put a live round in there, No. 1, that shouldn’t have been on set, and No. 2, they should have visually inspected the gun first with a pencil down the barrel and a flashlight to make sure there’s no obstruction in the mechanism,” veteran movie prop master Bill Davis told CBSLA Thursday. “And No. 3, they need to inspect the round that’s going in there. So it sounds to me, if someone actually got killed, which they did, that would have to be a live round of ammunition.”

That guy is such a sociopath, however, I can easily see him mocking the world by actually wearing a shirt with those words on it.
