If you've bought a home in the past 30 years, what did you pay for it? | |

If we sold our house, we would definitely make a profit - but where would we move? Maybe down south/west where homes are more affordable. We've been investing in chicken coops, gardens, generators, preserving food, etc. The problem for us is property tax keeps going up. Quoting: ElleMira What you do is MOVE into the center of the USA somewhere. A small town, and buy a cheap house there. Because things are about to get DICEY in big cities and on the coasts. :DOCSRBAFFLED::redblueLED::DONTBEAPANDEMICS: Only you can stop the fake pandemic for yourself, no one will ever tell you the pandemic is over. It’s worth close to double what I paid for it then today. Within the surreal depths of "reality" lies the truth. |

User ID: 82815993 United States 05/17/2022 09:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I bought a house during the Clinton years. After I bought it property values dropped. I was embarrassed to tell anyone what I paid for it. I was not under water because I got a decent loan and made enough. It was an abandoned home on the California Coast. 30 years ago it was 233k. It was a mess. I cleaned it up enough to live in it. In 2005 when money was cheap I took a loan out and remodeled. The whole house. New plumbing. New electrical. New everything. Updated and approved. I don't know what it is worth today but I am not leaving. Almost paid off. It is a small home. Everyone and my mother, brother, siblings, nieces, nephews, and our own children have lived in this house. It was crowded but we survived. For a long time we only had one bathroom. The sad thing is everybody , native Californians, relatives, people I have known forever have left. Chinese are here now. Buying up everything. They want my house and bother me every day. Quoting: TakeTheHeadOffTheShrimp The Chinese think that California is a bargain. Which it probably IS - compared to either Taiwan or even mainland China. The SF Mafia don't mind California becoming The New China. They presume that the Chinese will all vote Demoncrat, and that the poor/fleeing Caucasians will all flee off to TX, FL, CO, OR, WA, NV, AZ, UT, ID, and/or MT... :fireplace: "Remember when we used to treat colds and flu with chicken soup, saltwater gargles and warm tea instead of Communism?" |

Ended up selling when we had our first kid and because I really wanted more land/privacy Bought third house 11 acres along the salt ponds/ocean for $980,000 and have spent countless hours working on the land and home building a farm. Don’t think I’ll ever move from here but I’ve said that before I get called out for BS when saying I can support a family of seven for under a couple thousand a month, but you blow hards freely claim to be gazillionaires with dream properties. pfft. |

Anyway, just over 3 years ago I bought my current home, very nice area, 1900 sq feet ranch style, for 210 thousand. However, it was a short sale. It is currently worth about 400,000 thousand and going up fast. I will sell and move even further from any big city. I'm planning on paying cash the next time. |
