What's Everybody Driving These Days? Vehicles are so Overpriced it's Sickening!

I got the 2001 T6 model till 2014. Transmission failed twice and it's the reason why I am poor now. Switched to S60 2.5T and never looked back.

Just got a new Ford Maverick truck. It's a great little truck and good on gas. 27mpg.

A '99 Miata. I'd like to be buried in it.

I have the ascent. A couple years ago, if anyone had said I would own a Subaru I would have laughed. Their designs have improved and you can’t deny, Subaru makes great cars. The service and warranty is great.

I also have a Jeep truck, but that darn Subaru is so reliable, it’s what I drive when safety is my main concern

I was fortunate, kinda. Went on vaycay cross country Denver to Baja. I got my car broke into in Ensenada. When I returned to the states my keyFOB started to give me trouble. The dealer couldn’t fix it, backordered parts. I was in Vegas by then. When I was leaving the dealership I noticed the identical brand new car of the one who was disabled.

I’m now the proud owner of a 2022 Hyundai Sonata, metallic blue, panoramic sunroof, white leather, heated seats, front and rear. Best part is it gets 42mph.

I my car!



P.s. I also have several other vehicles, a disgusting amount really, I’m ashamed.

Those trucks are pretty nice. I’m curious of the ride. My son has his on order, it’s due from the factory mid-March. Was yours pretty much on time as predicted, or was it delayed? We’ve heard that they are running 3 months behind on orders now.

When did you put down the down payment? My son put his down mid-September? We were surprised when they said only 6 month wait, we were expecting the 18 month delivery date we were quoted on the bronco and f350.

2004 or 2006 (I forget which year) Ford F-150 that has duct tape holding a few things together. Love it. Runs rough, but never dies.

Many years ago I worked at a dealer in SC. I was handed the keys and ticket to a Mustang. The ticket said "NO START". So I hop in it and hit the starter only to be greeted with the sound of the starter spinning freely.. I hop out and look under it and was shocked to see absolutely nothing between the engine and the transmission but the input shaft. It was all... gone. Flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, just missing.

The flywheel had come apart, chopped the lines off the firewall for the heater core, part of the pressure plate was found up inside the cowl laying next to the wiper motor, and had broken the windshield. The car ended up getting totaled.

That would be cool, but you will need to be a machinist and have a machine shop also, as I'm sure parts are pretty hard to get...

I recently traded my older model truck for a newer 12yo van. This after looking for almost a year. I bought used since the 90's but these prices are ridiculous.

2006 Toyota minivan. I’ve raised 3 kids with it. 2 in college and 1 a freshman in HS. This van has driven a mile or 2. No problems with it ever. Just keep,the oil changed regularly.

Love my 93 Miata. Owned for 23 years now.

A motorcycle for the two hour drive for groceries.
A 2003 F-350 flatbed around the Ranch/Firewood.
A Honda 4-wheeler/Rancher.
A horse.

By far my best car was a 1991 $2000 15 year old Mazda Miata (MX5) that I spent hours fitting with a turbo charger.

Motorbike are far more fun.

Now I drive a $1000 12 year old 1.0 litre 3 cylinder city car. It goes as fast as everything else on the constantly congested roads. Returns 60 miles per gallon, plenty of cheap second hand spares on eBay, mainly because they rarely go wrong.

Fuck over complex German junk that cost a fortune when they inevitably play-up or go wrong. The only reason why they are desirable is because those who buy them new desire prestige and conspicuous consumption of owning such an expensive and potentially unreliable piece of crap. Who the fuck is interested in all the stupid bells, whistles and hopeless low profile tyres and wheels that get bent by pot-holes.

Hey, but each to their own.

My Exerience is the person who does not like German cars, can’t afford one, knows nothing about them and usually either borrows moms car or has some 1000$ pile of hog shot that stinks inside. Too watch their own I guess.

Still driving my 17 year old Dodge sedan...most I've done is camshaft sensors, valve gasket seals, solenoid replacement on the transmission. No fluid exchanges. Power steering still A-1, transmission I'd say about B- under 40 mph but A-1 above 55 mph. Great on gas...A/C coolant jacked up but that's just a drain and refill issue or thermostat fix. No wiring issues.

My vehicle was one of a few made in Dodge's Mexican factory, not shithole Detroit.

When I tally up how much money I've saved after I paid it off 11 years ago...and dropped full coverage I am grateful I didn't buy a lemon. Its totally crazy how Americans overfinance and overinvest in vehicles.

Any cosmetic pieces or replacement body parts I can find at most junk yards.

I've had a couple of collisions where the passenger door has had to be replaced twice. I have a great auto body shop that paints it decently enough for $400.

At this point, I'm looking for a used minivan for business needs and a ten year old Hyundai Santa Fe for personal use just so I can feel like I have a newer vehicle.

I like new cars and trucks like anybody else but...I will NEVER finance another one. My car's blue book is literally $500-$1500. Financing cars is the biggest scam out there. It literally is dumb.

I have 2 daily drivers. I take turns.
1st is a 2000 corvette. 2 Seats but gets close to 30MPG

2nd is a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. 4 door lots of cargo space. But it has a strong V8 engine and off the line if I do not smoke the tires it will beat the Vette. Classic sleeper car that looks like nothing special till you hear the engine with factory duel exhaust and flowmaster mufflers. It was one of the last factory sleepers PONTIAC made before GM killed the brand

Was getting 18 MPG when I bought it @ 125,000 miles

I'm averaging 22.5 most of the time. 24 MPG when I do mostly highway driving.

Its getting new front struts, springs etc in the next month or so.

(there's a creak that is likely a strut mount, but the process of replacing that is intrusive enough to justify just replacing the whole assembly)

other than that its been oil changes and wipers (and letting insurance replace the stolen cat and exhaust).
