Practical Prepping Protocol even if Poor

I just tried to send an email to Pooka.

I received an error; 'account expired'.

Oh my.
Prayers are with her physically and spiritually going forward.

I made it's own thread but I thought it would be fitting here as well...

My friend Pooka. (By Mental Case).

I met Pooka in a thread about weight loss...I gave a few ideas that had worked for me.

We caught up with eachother again in Wyattes bug out thread. We started talking in PMs and I mentioned starting a preppers thread. She asked me if I was willing to manage it and delete off topic posts etc...etc...and I said no.

She asked me if I minded if she created the thread because she also had the same idea and she was willing to spend the time to manage it...I said go for it...I will contribute all I can.

She asked me what I thought of this name for the thread...I said it sounds like peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. She laughed and said that's what she was shooting for. Then she created the thread & I got in on page one.

I told her all about Kitty (see my stray cat thread). Pooka would always take kittys side of every argument...even when kitty would stay outside all night galavanting. I once explained that kitty said MYOP...and MYOP means I am very unhappy if not downright pissed off. Later I emailed Pooka a thread about amazon delivery being down...Pooka responded "MYOP".

She had her moments...as did I...but we became friends. We ended up talking via email several times a day. We also mailed things back & fourth to eachother (by the US mail). Last Christmas (of 2021) I wanted to give her a special gift. I wanted to give her the feeling of being little & being so excited to open her presents on Christmas morning that she couldn't sleep.

I got her about 10 small gifts and individually wrapped them in xmas paper and mailed them to her...I made her promise not to open them until DAYLIGHT on Christmas morning (NOT one minute after midnight)...she agreed.

None of the gifts were big...a scented candle...a box of choc covered toffee...a box of andees mints...etc.

It worked! I gave her the feeling I set out to.

She took about 4 days to open them all because she was enjoying the anticipation. Then I told her the candle and chocolates WERE NOT your Christmas present. The feeling was your present.

Anyhoo...it was feb 15th 2022 she emailed me & said if I didn't hear from her it was because she went to the hospital...and that was the last I ever heard from her.

She had given me 2 email addresses...I tried them both. 1 was a pay email & that was deactivated...the other I got no response.

Pooka and I laughed...and argued...then laughed again. I miss my friend! I miss our conversations!

Pooka's thread will be missed. I wish there was a way to archive it.

There is, sort of.

Go to the 1st page of the thread. Underneath Pooka's 1st post you'll see a list of clickable options. Click on the on that says "Add to Favorites". That will put it on your personal favorites list. On the main page of the forum is a big red heart that will take you to your favorites list.

I've tried printing out pages in the past and it doesn't always work. I've never tried to download. Maybe?

ETA: I should have said, the list is under Pooka's name on the left side on her 1st post.

Not only is winter coming but it's cleat they are planning another pandemic scenario and probable lockdown.

If you haven't started already, time to start thinking about what another long-term lockdown will look like and plan accordingly for your situation.

What got you through the last time? What can you improve upon? What about family members?
