The gender of the Holy Spirit in the NT is mostly neutral until talk of the Comforter or Advocate. The Shekinah (manifestation of divine presence in the world) was traditionally understood as the feminine aspect of God. I haven't decided what Eve means. I just recognize the story of separation and reunion between opposites (who were never all that opposite to begin with). |

I'll keep it as brief and uncomplicated as possible :D Quoting: Bee Free Yeah of course. I'm keen. Yes, please do so. Cheers, but living aside a ROC catechumen and doing at least an hour long Theological discussion every night wears one down. I obviously hold some heretical beliefs which preclude me from Baptism in the ROC. I would say this is worth a listen (I won't put my thread up just a link) [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] So hearing a 'simpletons' (JK) version of the Union of God and Man through Christ might be quite the new 'eyes' kind of post. I'm looking forward to the post if the poster comes back. We live on an island, so he can only go to Vancouver every second week to attend Church. I have not quite made it there because I am a bit of a heretic (reincarnation is verboten in the ROC). So every night we have about an hour long Theological discussion. He is still a catechumen. That means he has not been Baptized. He is working towards that. I tried to convince him we should turn the extra room in his place into a studio to do a youtube chatter thing....but not yet. But yes, everyday is a day for discussing theology as far as I am concerned. Now, I'll, once I get a bit more grounded, ponder of Christ being the flaming sword in Eden because that is a basic presupposition of the Orthodoxy. But I'm going to have to go to Vancouver (a ferry ride away) and have this discussion with either the Priest (or more pertinently) the Deacon. It gets a bit complex really... This isn't a PBJ sammich. edited...throws phone away. How many Books were booted at Nicea? By whom? So, if dozens of Books were booted (lets just say Enoch), did God decided that? Or did men? What happened to Barnabas? And then enter the Dead Sea Scrolls. This is where I differ from the Orthodoxy. I think we should learn MORE about those verboten texts and not less. It seems to me that if you are going to go full 'Bible-tard' there are options outside of the Nicean Councils 'choices' and that Christianity is still a living, and changing (IMHO for the better) Religion (rebinding). Hence I do not get along with the Orthodox, yet. I have to go sort that out. Hence the fallacy of the Ecumenical 'faiths'. Which is why I gave up on my Catharism and found a certain solace with the Orthodox. But still hold too many (via personal experience though that could be prelest) heretical beliefs to become a catechumen. Sigh. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. 2 Timothy 1:10 But has now been disclosed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought to light life and immortality through the gospel, 1 Peter 1:23 For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. Ephesians 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, Colossians 3:1-4 3 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. |
