Hundreds of racing wrecks were worse than this.

Can't believe people carried on like they did.

I've been watching most all forms of motorsports for over 40 years. The hit to the wall didn't concern me. But that hit to the B pillar was flat sickening. When a Nascar roll cage shifts like that, that's a very nasty, violent hit. There was a Busch series race years ago when one of the cars hit the wall where emergency vehicles enter/exit. It hit flush on the driver's side and the entire roll cage shifted 2 feet to the right. The driver survived but I immediately thought he had died on impact.

It made Dale Sr's crash look tame. Dammit man why didn't you wear your restraints!

I don't know wtf to believe. If he had to be cut out of the car as they said him walking out of the hospital seems so far fetched. Like the other person said was he possibly sick so they had someone drive for him. I would think other drivers would be able to tell if he switched out. I still think someone else was driving and died. Ryan not being induced into a coma for brain swelling or anything seems impossible with a hit like that to the head they claim he has. Just going to be one of this mysteries we will never get the truth about. Unless it was some fucking miracle. Watched the crash many times and it makes no sense. Serious injuries and two days walking out hopsital and they show him from behind.

You have to remember that these guys are strapped in like fighter pilots, and the cars are basically a roll cage with wheels. With the addition of the HANS restraint and the Newman bar, they have become much safer. I have no doubt he's hurting, but at least he's alive.

From a statement made while he was in the hospital, I think it was a closed head wound, from impacts, accelerating, decelerating, the brain can't take the g-forces.

Pic from the front in his hospital gown, daughters on each side, all standing, he looked fine besides needing a shave.

Vegas rained out today, FS1 aired shows about Davey Allison and Neil Bonnett. Sad to see. Neil had been told he shouldn't take any more head injuries.

He was THE man, "The Intimidator", if you blocked him, and he had a faster car he was the best at ever so gently clearing the way for him to pass.

belief? more like the top restrictor plate cars at the time at DEI. waltrip always ran good in Earnhardt's equipment at restrictor plate tracks, other tracks not so much.

note: im not bashing. i was a huge earnhardt fan from 93-01. even got a tire from a his car at the texas race in 97 and still have it.
