SSI is $914 a month. If you are on SSI, then you are also on medicaid. SSI is different from social security. SSI is for those who are either disabled, and didn't have enough work quarters in for social security disability, or to supplement the social security checks of those extremely low income regular social security recipients.

There is a lot of fraud with SSI. If you are a druggie or an alcoholic, you can get on SSI easily. But if you are truly disabled and don't have enough quarters to get social security disability, it is difficult to get on SSI.
