Ok now I have to admit this is getting strange. Has this ever happened? A plane lost for many days without a signal?

Reminds me of the movie from Stephen King novel many years ago...very strange.

Re: Breaking! Cell Phones from passengers on Malaysia Airlines ringing......!!
the only way the emp theory would need an air craft is that if a suitcase nuke were detonated on the ground it would do little damage as far as electronics go. You need to have an atmospheric blast al high altitude. The ceiling height is listed at 43,100ft ~ 8.1 miles high, and the maximum range of the aircraft is 5,240 nmi - 9,380 nmi. depending on the model. The 777-200LR has the 9,380 nmi. range.
This altitude is not significant enough to produce a desirable condition to do much damage with an emp with an origin from a nuclear detonation, that being said other technologies may exist that could indeed be installed on a large craft such as this. That kind of range it could easily make it to the continental US from a distant location.
If a pilot gets a call from the chinese government to divert its flight, would the captain comply as protocol? communications could have been cut off at the source by someone with the knowledge of this aircraft, flight diverted to mainland china, install said weapon on plane, blend in with air traffic on day and do what ever it is they would like to do.....sounds like a bond movie...
or it could have sufferd a catastrophic , yet instant end.

They're either trapped in a low flying UFO or in an alernate dimension.

Kind of like the movie Poltergiest where they were talking to that girl through the TV.

The family of a passenger on the missing Malaysia Airlines flight successfully rang his mobile phone - but nobody answered.

This video shows the moment relatives of a Chinese man among the 239 people feared dead after the passenger jet mysteriously disappeared rang his phone live on state television.

The call connected, but then rang out.

Chinese media reports that a number of families have been able to ring mobile phones of their missing loved ones but no one answers.

I posted the following forum thread because it dawned on me that there are MANY, MANY, MANY of the world's tallest skyscrapers located in the area of where the plane went missing.

My fear is that the plane was hijacked to become a flying bomb for one of these tallest buildings. There are actually two of the world's tallest buildings located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the plane took off from.

Someone could use this plane very similarly to the way planes were used on September 11th.

I feel so sad for the families, desperate for any glimmer of hope. But :

"... a Chinese family has successfully dialed and rang the mobile cell phone of a passenger on board the Malaysia Airlines plane MH370.

"... Today, the brother of a man who is listed on the missing airplane's manifest demonstrated for Chinese television that he could dial his sibling's mobile phone, which was with him on the plane, and that the call was connected and rang several times indicating the phone is working, turned on and able to be answered somewhere."

When you call a cell phone number, and you hear the ring sound, it doesn't mean that the phone is on and ringing.

You've connected to the phone company's system is all it means.

So sorry to say it.

I am surprised that They dont get cellphones from passengers. And cheap(not smart) models can stay about a week in standby.
And before 9/11 was at least one hijacked plane that was simulated crash, and passengers are turned to lab mices for experiments.
Better watch "Lost" series and will know more what happens, They make it real...

There was someone from Malaysia that explained many Chinese phones will have a call forwarding feature when turned off. I don't know how true or if this is the case, but it's something to think about.

Why lost contact phone can dial?

If the operator can not be found, is open oolong, unable to locate

According to the Central Broadcasting Network reported yesterday Beijing Lido Hotel has a family member mentioned that he had lost contact with the plane hit the brother's phone, turn on the sound, but it broke after a couple of loud sound, the phone number Singapore is a phone number.

Malaysia Airlines spokesman yesterday denied that this number can be dialed. Singapore telecommunications companies reply that this number is a number of arrears, it is impossible situation after speculation that the "call forwarding" exists, this may be the emergence of international long distance voice transfer them.

Chen describes the communication industry, if the phone really opened up, then technically can navigate to the location of the phone. "Operators are positioned generally not by GPS, but by the station, only a few kilometers radius of a base station coverage, so long as he switched registered, operators can find the range where he's." The industry source said, "For example, you are in Bangkok, your phone international roaming. then after you boot, first to Bangkok operators registered, and then through a switching system will signal back to Chinese operators so that Chinese operators will know you are in a place in Bangkok the. "

He also pointed out that if operators are willing to cooperate, so long as the phone really opened up, then call forwarding gone, is not the machine answer, operators can get this.

If the operator can not find, that this phone would not boot, open a oolong, there may be a string line.

In addition, the world each phone has a unique identifier, so long as the phone is switched through this ID can be positioned both technically possible to position the phone.

So, my cell phone battery is dead. I have Verizon and it still rings in the phone I am dialing with but my cell phone

does not. Just sayin....
 Quoting: KimmieAnnaJones

Exactly, a cell phone can be dead, and yet you will hear it on YOUR end ringing, and when not answered, the computer/phone company will start recording for voice mail.

I can dial someone, on VOIP, they won't hear it ring if the phone is offline, but I'll hear it ring on my end.

This means NOTHING.

why would muslims fly into a muslim country's building? different sect of islam? that's possible, but i would more likely imagine the plane being flown into a chinese building since the chinese actually crack down on the muslims in their country, so this would be revenge and perhaps even a call to da'wa for china....like 9/11 was to the USA.
