I want to read all of this, but I have a question.
If the victims thought that the fire source came
from above, and hit the tree-line, why would they
climb yet another tree?

I've decided it has to be easier to learn Russian than to read Google's translation of it.

The diagram of the tent and it's explanation almost killed me.

Don't go anywhere near the Russian articles unless you've read the Portuguese. The Portuguese is "See Spot run" compared to the Russian which is actually a test to see if you're psychic.

No one says that the victims thought there was a fire source, coming from above or anywhere else. That thought comes from writers or investigators who believe that something supernatural was the culprit.

And it remains to be seen why two of the skiers climbed the tree in the first place. The Portuguese article author speculates that it was to get a better view of any approaching danger. However in the book I'm reading now, I haven't found out what the author concludes. FYI- The book is based on the forensics of the case. Which if you read the Portuguese article, you'll find are really, really strange.

As the OP, I would really like to make it clear that the reason I made the thread was to get your interest and hopefully get people to volunteer as many sources as possible to essentially "share with the class". I can't tell you how happy I am with the majority of you serious contributers in the thread!! Thank You For Taking An INTEREST and using Your awesome minds/unique points of view on the topic! Just making sure u have further reading from source! Team effort right everyone?

I am so psyched! I went looking online for the book written by Alexei Rakitin today and couldn't find it anywhere online. I ended up e-mailing the publisher of the book in London asking where I could find it. I just looked at one of the Russian sites you recommended and there it is, his book! I can't believe it! He's one of the few people who subscribe to the CIA theory.

Which brings up the fact that the CIA theory is ridiculed in almost every article on the net.

And then we have Mr. Clown Car above who tried in vain to make it sound preposterous. Gee, I think we may be onto something....

they are hiking when first avanche buries 4 . remaining 5 set up tent nearby, as it is getting dark.

more avalaches panic and disorientate the rest that night, who flee the tent and die of exposure not long after.

lots is lost in translation and speculation but the findings are correct. exposure and avanches are 'compelling forces of nature'

Re: excited to share info re: dyatlov pass incident
Someone who was fully clothed and had obviously been outside, came into the tent and told the rest something that made them cut a hole in the tent and leave thru it in a hurry, barefoot and coatless, heading towards the woods. They hid in the branches of a large Cedar tree and cut themselves a "window" so they could look towards the tent.

There goes the avalanche theory.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47172499

How do you cut a window through a ceder tree , if it's big enough to conceal you it would be a major job to cut through it

I believe somoness was testing a weapon that used nuclear energy as its source

The remains looked like they had experienced a nuclear accident

just my 2 cents
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4349170

Possible.

Although the problem i have with that theory is that it was a mountain slope where this incident happened with tree's. I would imagine if you were testing anything of the sort, you would want to do it on a flat landscape, which Russia has many many square miles of in that region.
 Quoting: Taggart87™

The incline was only 15 degrees, not much of a slant. However your point is a good one, why not put the tent down by the trees where the forest could act as a wind barrier and it was flatter.

There's also the possibility that the entire scene was moved after the incident to cover up what really happened.

Re: excited to share info re: dyatlov pass incident
Look, Avalanche was dicredited immediately for the following reasons:

1. Obvious lack of disturbance of snow on mountain and at the tent.

2. Incline of mountain not steep enough for avalanche

3. Avalanches occur in daytime when sun can melt snow and cause it

4. Along with sun, it's the wrong side of the mountain based on sun to be an avalanche

5. We know from tracks everyone was able to walk away from the tent without being carried, there for none of the major injuries occurred at the tent.

This is the only time I will address the avalanche theory which the investigation even at the time had to rule out. Do the research. No more silly avalanche theories on my thread. I've said this twice already even in my first post.

This case has always fascinated me as well.

I have been reading some articles and found this one:

[link to mysteriousuniverse.org]

There is a comment to this article that has me intrigued, comment by CM 8 days ago...

snip

As a former Military police officer, I have familiarity with crime scenes. I strongly believe this scene was tampered with and or partially staged. Much of the "evidence" presented in this case are pieces and parts of the story that do not add up to a whole sequence of events.
It is conceivable to me that the 4 bodies in the ravine, (two of which displayed crushed chest cavities with broken ribs and one, a severe cranial fracture, but none of which had evidence of contusions to the soft tissue) were dumped there and left to die after the inital attack to delay detection as long a possible. Absence of Dubinina's tongue and, in some accounts I have read, her eyes were plucked out presents to me as "see no evil speak no evil" symbology. The "silent scream" of Dubinina's contorted face and the blood in her stomach suggests her tongue was taken before she died. If this was done postmortem, the scavenging animal would have found it very difficult to pry a frozen tongue out of the corpses mouth with a clean break. The tongue was taken out "by the root". This clean of an extraction could only have been done while she was still alive and the tissue was soft.

There is much more to his comment and it is quite interesting.

As horrific as it sounds, it appears the commenter is correct. Of course the question is who did it and why her?

I just finished the part in the Russian book I'm reading where the author debunked every theory ever formulated on the subject. It's just unbelievable the number of theories and the amount of writing that has been done, i.e. hundreds of articles and numerous books.

I'm now at the part where she offers us her explanation based on a careful exam of the forensics including never before calculated measurements and evidence that never made it into the official
report. She's also discounting embellishments that have been added over the years which other authors took at face value.

It took only one paragraph of her conclusions to put the fear of god in me. I'm almost afraid to keep reading. In fact, I'm taking a break for a few days just to get my head screwed back on straight and to catch up on my sleep.

It's no wonder the truth has never been revealed before, most people
wouldn't be able to handle it.
