I recently had a toenail removed by my dr. and he suggested triple antibiotic ointment, fabric bandages and sterile saline solution for the twice daily wound wash. The first two I had, the saline I did not have, so I bought a spray pump can of it at a local drug store. It was the Arm & Hammer brand. Listed as a "pressurized saline wash helps remove dirt and debris" Anyways thought I would mention as a good thing to have. Excellent idea, especially considering the danger to our health during less than idea hygienic conditions. Thank you very much for this suggestion - I also do not have this product and hope to find some. Have to go out this afternoon to pick up prescription refills and stop by the store - will see if they have this item. Thank you again for wise advice, AC 0393 I had a source for sterile saline online (i.e., IV bags) but the vendor recently announced they can no longer sell it to anyone without a medical license or a prescription. Oddly, you can buy sterile saline in small syringes on Amazon. They are the type used to flush IVs. I believe they are available for people who are on IV therapy at home. I bought a box of them, I think they come 30 to a box and aren't very expensive. I have a few in each of my first aid/trauma kits. They are handy to have around. I use them on scrapes and cuts. Since they are syringes, they are 'pressurized' and helpful in flushing dirt out of a wound. I should note that is not buffered saline, just sterile normal saline...so it does sting a little LOL. I imagine lens solution would be buffered. Is it sterile? Ofcourse...you put it in your eyes. There is cleaning solution that you soak your contacts in overnight & before putting in your eyes you rinse them with the saline solution. Once that was glowing we put it into a nest of dry grass & blew it into flame. Then we started little sticks on fire & then bigger sticks. Like a magnifying glass on steroids. Used in many classroom overhead projectors until a decade ago.. Many school districts are disposing of the old projectors en masse. Might even find one in a dumpster. Many actually have two lenses glued together at the edges. Separate them and you will have two very capable fire starters. Just keep them out of the sun if you don't want to burn your house down. I've been married so long, I don't even look both ways when I cross the street. |

Hold top end of string in place until wax begins to set so it remains in place. If making a large candle, measure cotton candle wick to fasten old washers on two ends, wick is bent in half one to three inches apart, depending on the radius of the candle holder, because large candles with double wicks burn very bright, above candle holder. Lay a pen, straw, stick, ice pick across top of candle holder to hold wick in place. Pour melted wax. This uses up crummy candles, waste wax, etc, and makes cheap and great candles. Recommend not using scented wax - don't want to advertise to anybody what's happening in your house.
