It's like we are in a time machine. It's now Feb 2020. Very, very few of us see what's coming up, even though we've lived through it once already.

Short attention spans and hubris are going to be our downfall.

Indeed surrealistic to see that a so high amount of people is so clueless about the dynamics of a pandemic, and capable of thinking its over when the only reason that it has not killed more people is because of the measures taken, which were effective to avoid a massive number of deaths.

2) The (older) comments appeared to directly contradict guidance from public health organizations, including the CDC, which have said 1/3rd of infections may be asymptomatic. The CDC also estimates 40% of coronavirus transmission occurring before people feel sick—presymptomatic.

It is amazing that this is still being debated, presymptomatic transmission was proven back in the end of January!!!



The doi of the paper from which I took this info graphic changed after a review of the paper in March 2020, but the conclusion of the paper was not changed at all!

Sweden to drop daily coronavirus briefings as scandal grows over its loose handling of the pandemic

Sweden’s top health authority will drop daily press briefings that had provided updates on the country’s Covid-19 infection rate and death toll.

The decision comes amid a furore over Sweden’s strategy to fight the pandemic, after state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell admitted his approach was flawed. Instead of every day, updates will now only be provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Sweden’s softer lockdown has resulted in one of the world’s highest death rates, relative to its population. But both Tegnell and Prime Minister Stefan Lofven have insisted there’s no need to change strategies. The controversy had turned the briefings into public grillings during which Tegnell was increasingly pressed to explain himself.

The development has embarrassed the government and led to a dramatic slump in Swedish support for the country’s Covid response. During a debate with party leaders on Wednesday, Lofven acknowledged Sweden should have conducted more tests for the virus.

In fact, Texas, NC and Alabama all had record hospitalizations today. Arizona hospitals are nearing capacity.

Not surprisingly, this comes 2 weeks after Memorial Day weekend.

We’ve been open(ing) here in Iowa for over and month and cases continue to decline- probably slower than they would have.... but it’s still hopeful here.

Experts have advised people for months to wear masks, wash their hands and stay 6 feet apart. But now that some public places are reopening, individuals must decide for themselves which ones to continue to avoid and which ones pose little risk of spreading the virus.

MLive spoke to the following four public health experts in Michigan, asking them to assess the risk various activities pose to spreading coronavirus.

The doctors pointed to five factors, when considering how risky a given activity might be: Whether it’s inside or outside; proximity to others; exposure time; likelihood of compliance; and personal risk level.

Outdoor activities are generally safer, they said, because the virus becomes less concentrated outside and doesn’t get recirculated around like it could indoors.

Bear in mind that these ratings are with precautions being taken by everyone attending.

Without precautions, the risk of getting infected begins to turn into certainty.

I have said this before but in Chile one of the main outbreaks was traced back to a Gym.

Interesting study about 100% use of face masks

It is indeed necessary, but also that people use them properly. Most people don’t really use them properly, let the nose out, wear it longer than possible without a change, they touch it and then touch their faces, etc.

Beijing district in 'wartime emergency' after virus cluster at major food market

A Beijing district put itself on a "wartime" footing and the capital banned tourism and sports events on Saturday after a cluster of novel coronavirus infections centred around a major wholesale market sparked fears of a new wave of COVID-19.

Forty-five people out of 517 tested with throat swabs at the Xinfadi market in the city's southwestern Fengtai district had tested positive for the coronavirus, Chu Junwei, a district official, told a briefing.

None were showing symptoms of COVID-19, he said, but added that 11 neighbourhoods in the vicinity of the market, which claims to be the largest agricultural wholesale market in Asia, had been locked down with 24-hour guards put in place.
