Hope everyone there is okay. Quoting: Peepaws I’m in Avoyelles parish. We have 3 cases now I think. It feels like business as usual here. I work in a nursing home so I do have to get out of my house often. But I also see kids playing together on the streets today. Our school board has stopped giving the kids the free breakfast and lunches because they are out of PPE though, and that’s the only meal some of these kids may get. My husband works in Alexandria at an “essential” business also, and he saw a nail salon open and other “nonessential” businesses open. Doesn’t seem like anyone is paying any attention to the stay at home order here. |

The situation is getting scary fore sure. Yes, I am actually scared to go into a store. I went to Albertsons today and was getting produce and the head of cauliflower fell on the floor. A member of the produce team was stocking veggies and it rolled right by her feet. As I instinctively went to grab it, her eyes widened and she jumped away. We are all scared crapless, I sure hope it gets better very soon. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72479200 Like we get the covid19 result, but we are not allowed to tell the doctor. We have to tell the state who tells the cdc who then will call the doctor It’s strange how the feds want to be in absolute control of the numbers. Also, there are people dying of pneumonia in nursing homes. They are not being tested for covid19. Just some things to think about. This stinks to high Heaven!! |

(OP) User ID: 77281219 United States 03/25/2020 09:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ... Quoting: Presley Page I think they need to re-evaluate what is essential and really get strict. We are all going to have to get uncomfortable and inconvenienced to get through this. It really sucks too bc my husband isn’t working now....he’s in oilfield....I’m essential so I will be employed but I can’t support us. So I get the financial concern but I don’t want to bury him or one of my children either. I think you are right... I work security in a refinery and still have to work but Im 50 and have health problems myself due to a previous battle with an unknown virus back in my 30s... We are in a major turnaround right now with hundreds of extra contractors coming in every day.. Members of one contractor crew were confirmed to have the virus and all they did was ban that crew and set up some temperature check tents... To top it off, my daughter lives with me and works at Lowes, no staying at home for her either. I work for a garbage company so we have to keep the trucks rolling but it seems that we could do more and cut back on who is essential. I mean why the big stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot? Sure there’s a logical reason and if there is why not limit to ONE and set a limited time frame each day or every other day. Same with groceries and limit how many go in and only open a certain amt of stores? OR why not do the SIP and enforce it? If it’s a case of becoming an Italy repeat...I would think they’d pull out all stops. In New York they aren't slowing the curve any with the social distancing, not working - so whats the point! Lowes or Home Depot,- what if your plumbing burst and you can fix it. what if you have a nasty leak in roof and can't fix it. We can't hire everything done and contractors use Lowes and Home Depot as well. You are right on that...didn't think of it that way but it seems that they could put some kind of restriction or limit on things. I'm running on nothing right now...no idea. |

(OP) User ID: 77281219 United States 03/25/2020 09:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In Louisiana, death comes before coronavirus test results Quoting: Presley Page [link to news.yahoo.com (secure)] Social worker Natasha Ott was feeling ill but declined a COVID-19 test earlier this month because her clinic, Crescent Care — which serves the HIV-positive community — only had five, and she wanted to save them for patients. "They don't think I need to get tested unless I develop a fever," the 39-year-old texted her boyfriend, Josh Anderson. "All looks well." Ott, a Claremont native who moved to New Orleans five years ago, was finally tested a week later, on March 16. She was told she would have to wait for the results. Anderson offered to bring her pho, but she said she didn't have an appetite. She was tired, and asked him to walk her dog, Zola. Two days later, she texted: "I just don't understand why I don't feel much better yet." Two days after that, Anderson found her collapsed in her kitchen, dead. “She died on the day she was supposed to get the results,” said family friend Carol Coalson, of San Diego, Ott's foster mother, who had just visited her last month to celebrate Mardi Gras. She tested negative. I wonder if you could get a false negative post-mortem, like others who tested several times before getting a positive? That may really be grasping but this is shocking to me. |

My oil field husband has not been working because of all of this. He hears a rumor about cuts and finds out that they intend to cut everyone's pay. I read the email that the company put out and they said it was due to the "gas wars" and Covid. It mentioned that Govt had promised help but they had not seen any so they had to be fiscally responsible. At this point he's not traveling b/c of virus and when and if he does go he will probably be going for less pay. And right now....no pay. Thank God I have an "essential" position but not the bread winner by any means. Coworker/Friend from work calls and her husband got his test results today...he's positive and quarantined at home. I asked her what they were doing and if they asked who he had been around and she said no. Just told him he was positive...stay in and he may want to contact anyone he was around. Our oldest was getting married in June...beach wedding. They decided today to postpone and just do it later back home. I called to inquire about cancelling our Condo and the No-English speaking agent told me that I would loose my deposit. I decided I'd call back tomorrow and speak to someone I could better understand in hopes that there is a big misunderstanding. I am so over this shit! Sorry for the rant |

The Archbishop said in his note to fellow priests that he had not been feeling well lately and took the test, which came back positive. Eeeekkk!!! I went to mass at St. Louis Cathedral in NOLA on 3/8 and he presided over the mass. I was actually going to go shake his hand afterward but too many people were around him. At that level of responsibility and education, a person who did not self-quarantine instead of complaining to fellow priests that he had not been feeling well "lately", was really thoughtless. In the middle of a highly contagious pandemic, he starts to feel sick and then goes out and serves mass to hundreds of people? Jack ass move. Really dumb. |

The general manager of that hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn-New Orleans French Quarter Downtown on Gravier Street, confirmed the plan was to start moving people in groups of 35 from encampments and house and feed them for the next 30 days, using a mixture of federal, state, local and philanthropic funds. “We have transitioned our hotel into an intake facility,” said hotel general manager Adam Turni told WWL-TV in an exclusive interview. “We have painter’s tape to designate 6 feet indicators so everybody can keep proper spacing. We're only allowing one individual to use our elevator at a time, we're only allowing so many persons on each floor at a time.” The hotel is prepared to serve the guests three meals a day, clean their rooms daily and provide laundry service under the deal. She began feeling poorly 4 days ago, and went to the urgent care and failed the flu test. -- Hello, Btw, aren't we supposed to test everyone now? So they suggested a covid test and self quarantined her. I am hopeful she is negative, my sister was around her about 6 days ago, and their community only has two cases. I just can't imagine how she would have gotten it unless it's a Church thing, seems like the churches seem to be getting hit. Thing is, we could nip this in the bud if we just started knocking tests out. Instead, we make it remarkably difficult to get one. |

While there he developed a fever and fluid on his lungs so he was transferred to a COVID-19 unit. 6 days later and there is still no results on his COVID-19 test but he is much more likely to get it being in that unit.
