The big box stores seem well supplied except for the cleaning products.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79210692

I went to a huge Fred Meyer in Southern Idaho the other day and they were out of a lot of stuff. Had only two types of jarred salsa but had them lined up so they filled the shelf more but nothing behind them. Same with a lot of things and sill lots of empty shelf space. It was creepy.

I think they call that fronting. If you see gaps or disorganization, your brian tells you not to shop there.

Re: Supply chain issues from an insider.
I was in my local Lowe's today, and a large section of the store in the back, middle was sectioned off with large ceiling to floor curtains. I would estimate it was roughly 20' x 40'.
 Quoting: Informed1

They have "Lowe's Follies" every Sunday night after closing. They were just setting up for the event.
 Quoting: Where Eagles Dare

I was at Lowe’s 2 weeks ago to buy a fridge for one of my rentals. I wanted the cheap 18 cf that they had displayed on the floor. They said they were back ordered and they might have them in stock in 6-8 weeks. I said, no problem, I’ll just take the one on the floor. I’m sorry sir, we can’t sell our display models. Turned out their warehouse was empty, but the floor was full. Are we living in 1985 Russia?

It's been Russia supply chains for the past 5 months.

You're welcome. Seriously they said that their sales had been down and were thinking of closing. What a loss that would be. If things go south, every home should have the complete set of Lindsay books.

I got paid on Friday so visited Walmart and was a bit suprised at the empty spots on shelves. One was men's underwear so I grabbed what I could in my size.

We went to four different chain grocery stores and Target, they all had empty shelves. The one didn't have one can of tomato paste and it's a huge major grocery store FFS. Shit is getting really dicey.

Wanted to redo some rotten boards on my deck.

I concur, op is telling the truth. I was at a King Soopers and they had several storage units outside in the parking lot. I asked a rep in the store and was told it was for some major remodeling. I didn't think much of till just now after hearing from the first hand account from OP.

Employed by Major Home Improvement retailer. Been informed that we are going to have way worse shortages than we already have or had anticipated.

The company is scrambling to conduct sweeping remodels of the "floor" to help offset the look of empty shelves and drop zones.

We received reporting that showed us our "get healthy" dates on stock that we ran out of and they came and went and we are still out of important items and material.

In fact over the next couple months you will be seeing major remodels in store. You'll know it when you see it. It's to maintain planogram integrity while keeping the stores "looking full" and investors happy.

This is only the beginning so it will most assuredly impact food and other essential items.

Get bulked out.

I’m the operations manager for a very large performance automotive distributor. We have vendors telling us 9 weeks or better before replenished stocks will be shipped and even then it will be in smaller batches. Our inventory is down from 6.9 mil to 4.8 mil as we speak. I know for a fact stealing with large LTL carriers that food and home supplies are not shipping as often. If your not stocking up now I would like to remind everyone here of how fast the run on cleaning supplies kicked off! Still has not recovered and won’t. This is biblical times we are living in, God is giving us a bit more time to turn to him and as Jesus to come into our hearts and save us! Think what you want, I’m warning all of you this is no joke and should not be taken lightly.

It's been getting progressively worse during the last 45 days.
