Very serious indeed, if true. Likely is.

OK, woman with no symptoms and negative tests traveled from Wuhan. Infected family members, two of whom developed pneumonia. She had no positive test and lungs xray was OK too. Second test was positive.

"The study, published on Feb. 21, confirmed that a 20-year-old woman from the central Chinese city of Wuhan, where the disease first broke out, traveled 400 miles north to Anyang City in January, where she infected five members of her family.

A scan of her chest by doctors showed no significant abnormalities, and her first coronavirus diagnostic result was negative. However, her second test came back positive, despite her displaying no symptoms whatsoever.

Meanwhile, five of the woman’s family members developed “moderate” COVID-19, and two developed severe pneumonia, according to Dr. Meiyun Wang of the People’s Hospital of Zhengzhou University and colleagues who conducted the study."

50% rule followed

This is challenging. No positive test and no abnormalities. This is impossible to quarantine or block.

Got to move to another method of containment. Perhaps all wear bioweapons suits? JK

Trying to keep the quote short, I didn't report that this was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association on February 21. Guess I won't have to email my medical family members on this one. Pretty sure they've ruled out other means of transmission before publishing.

Use your heads.

All viruses, aerosol and whatnot, are going to go into remission for the summer.

Coronavirus is out there and will not go away, but it will go into remission like all the viruses.

Warmer temperatures will bring the humidity levels up, slowing down the transmission rates.

Humidity not only captures the aerosol viruses, it also moisturizes the lips and sinuses, and cracked lips and sinuses are entry points for viruses.

We WILL see a reduction in Coronavirus infections the closer we get to summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and there will be more infections in the Southern Hemisphere during their winter, keeping the Coronavirus alive, which means it will return to the Northern Hemisphere next winter.

Next year is when the Coronavirus will get extremely bad in the Northern Hemisphere, shutting down communities all over the place, and devastating commerce.

You still have one good summer ahead of you to get your act together.

On way home was listening to NPR. They were talking to a DR who is over the 16 in Washington state. Said the budget is around 20k a WEEK. They are requesting federal funds. These people are quarantined in home. They have food delivered to them and anything else needed. There is in home health care if needed but also have a hospital set up if transfer is needed. She said they are preparing for more cases.
The one person who tested positive has made full recovery.

I looked on NPR site to try and find, no luck.
Hold on to your undies, it's gonna be a hell of a ride

our CDC ain't that smart. they think it is a bad cold and have no clue. i honestly think they are incompetant. they mishandled the ship, the flights, the isolation on bases, etc. they admit the tests are flawed and they don't know much.

it is beyond acting dumb. they did not have medical staff on the ground to handle a fever at the base in CA. they are not ready and staffed to handle sick with the great military might of the US. tell me why we couldn't have had Dr's,CDC staff, and equipment flew out to the CA base?it is ignorant, irresponsable, negligent, almost criminal, and beyond idiotic.

we have the greatest military and medical ppl in the world, but we couldn't handle a kid with a cold fever at a military base. we took the kid from the base, out of quarantine,to the hospital. away from his mom and dad, not knowing if they would ever see him alive again. this was our great nation's leaders at work. it borders on insanity.

that tell u how prepared and smart our ppl are? we are beyond Flucked. we'd stand a better chance if China nuked DC than to leave the CDC run this. there is no excuse for how this was handled. i expect TRUMP will start firing them soon, next week.

13 soldiers confirmed as coronavirus patients, 7,500 in quarantine
Defense 18:03 February 24, 2020
By Oh Seok-min

SEOUL, Feb. 24 (Yonhap) -- Thirteen service members have been confirmed to have the new coronavirus as of late Monday, and around 7,500 others are quarantined as part of efforts to stop the virus from spreading further in barracks, the defense ministry said.

Ten COVID-19 cases in the Army and one each in the Navy, the Air Force and the Marine Corps had been confirmed as of 4 p.m. Monday, up from a total of 11 cases tallied earlier in the day, according to the ministry.

The 13 military members were among South Korea's 833 cases of the new coronavirus as of late Monday that include eight deaths among civilian patients....

Nawty- if you don't want this here, feel free to delete it. Something my 34 y/o son had mentioned that hadn't crossed my mind - to make sure all of our rechargeable batteries are fully charged. I have some that aren't even opened yet, but I've started cycling them through the charger just to be sure they are full.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but are we screening people on flights from Italy, South Korea, Japan, etc?

Also, speaking of flights, what about people who own private plans? When they land and taxi over to their private hanger, there's no one there to screen them.

I was at a private hangar a few days ago where one of the planes came in from China and I wondered what's to stop super wealthy people from just flying anywhere they want. As we check people coming into the U.S. from Hubei, are we going to stop private jets from coming in, or will they start getting screened somehow?

It's hubris. And normalcy bias.

The CDC thought they could catch it at the borders. They thought it couldn't happen here. They are learning. Dr Nancy Messonier does not want to go in to the history books (or cave paintings, depending on how this all fleshes out) any more than anyone else at the CDC.

One of 2 things should happen. We all meet in 3 months, have beers, and discuss how damn stupid we feel for over-reacting

-or-

In 2 years, the survivors meet with pitch forks and torches, drink some moonshine, reminisce about the way things used to be, then we storm what's left of Washington.

Once China figured out what was going on it was pretty much all over by then. All the WHO, CDC, governments can do is try to keep it somewhat contained, but it is like stopping a cracked dam with your fingers - not going to work. These people have to weigh peoples' rights to know versus saying things which will cause mass panic/hysteria. Having bank runs, lootings, and shootings isn't going to do anybody any good. Not to mention half of everything we hear is just BS. Not saying these people are incompetent - what would any of us do in their place?

our CDC ain't that smart. they think it is a bad cold and have no clue. i honestly think they are incompetant. they mishandled the ship, the flights, the isolation on bases, etc. they admit the tests are flawed and they don't know much.

it is beyond acting dumb. they did not have medical staff on the ground to handle a fever at the base in CA. they are not ready and staffed to handle sick with the great military might of the US. tell me why we couldn't have had Dr's,CDC staff, and equipment flew out to the CA base?it is ignorant, irresponsable, negligent, almost criminal, and beyond idiotic.

we have the greatest military and medical ppl in the world, but we couldn't handle a kid with a cold fever at a military base. we took the kid from the base, out of quarantine,to the hospital. away from his mom and dad, not knowing if they would ever see him alive again. this was our great nation's leaders at work. it borders on insanity.

that tell u how prepared and smart our ppl are? we are beyond Flucked. we'd stand a better chance if China nuked DC than to leave the CDC run this. there is no excuse for how this was handled. i expect TRUMP will start firing them soon, next week.

If this thing goes the way I think it's going to go, there will be panic, looting, shooting, bank runs, etc. Because it's going to suddenly be....it's here. Tomorrow at 8 am nobody leaves their house for 2 weeks. Period. THAT will be panic.

I wouldn't write off those who can prepare in order to not offend those who aren't in a position to prepare.

I'd tell those on welfare, that they are getting an extra 100 in their monthly payment, and they cna only use that on peanut butter, rice, etc etc. You can get a week or 2 out of a 100$. It won't be a feast, but at least you won't starve. If they choose not to prepare, then that's on them, not me.

A mix of political correctness, confirmation bias, normalcy bias and virtue signalling for the past several decades has been a deadly brew.

Even if Covid-19 isn't a debacle from a health standpoint in the US, it looks very likely to be an economic one.

Then when the damage has been done, and we return to some stability, too many people will go right back to bouts of pro-NWO, anti-MAGA, pro-Apple/Silicon Valley, pro-business-as-usual.

I think that if people are listening/reading news articles, they are already quietly planning and have been for a couple of weeks now. I also think that there is nothing anybody can really do - the virus will make its way through the population. Once it hits a certain level and length of time, we will have looting here because there will be those who didn't prepare or could not afford to prepare, and are running out of food. Businesses will close down and nobody will have cash to buy things anyway - not going to be pretty. My kids live in just about the worst places - one not far from LA and the other not far from NY. I know if I tell them to GTHO if things start looking at all dicey they would just think it is their old mom being a conspiracy theorist...

It's a major open question as to how humidity affects this virus.

How has humidity affected viral transmission on all of those prison ships?

"The official poverty rate is 12.3 percent, based on the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2017 estimates. That year, an estimated 39.7 million Americans lived in poverty according to the official measure. According to supplemental poverty measure, the poverty rate was 13.9 percent."

Strangely, the country would benefit greatly. Isn't that horrific?

There is no reason to believe that Spring and Summer will decrease the virility of COVID. It's mid to upper 70s in Hong Kong, and they are having issues. 80s and 90s in Iran.

Joint WHO and ECDC mission in Italy to support COVID-19 control and prevention efforts

Italy has reported a rapid increase in cases of laboratory-confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) since 21 February 2020. An initial investigation by Italian authorities has found several clusters of cases in different regions of northern Italy, with evidence of local transmission of COVID-19.

[snip]

While limited local person-to-person transmission of COVID-19 in countries outside of China was expected, the rapid increase in reported cases in Italy over the past two days is of concern. However, it should also be noted that based on current data, in the majority of cases (4 out of every 5) people experience mild or no symptoms.

Hey @who and @twitter
, pretty crap that I can't even get results from an advanced search for my *own* tweets now.
You need to reduce the stringency of your filtering. There are plenty of other sources who can be trusted to speak to the public.

Such stringent restrictions cut out people who actually care about communicating to the public in a voice that is somewhat human.
I understand the intent; this is POORLY IMPLEMENTED.
Yes, this pisses me off.
