SOMETHING YOU MAY NOT KNOW:

PREPARING TO ENTER THE PUBLIC:

This video was embedded in one of the links on an earlier
page, but I will put the video up so everyone who wishes to
can watch it.

This video is actually from an Asian source that is circulating
there, and is what is recommended for their own people
dealing with this virus.

[link to youtu.be (secure)]
FairUSE

One thing in the video I have never seen is the
way the narrator hand-sanitizes the hands. I've used
the alcohol hand-sanitizer before...just rub it in
the palms of the hands and stopping, right? Well...
She's saying 20 seconds is necessary (sing "Happy Birthday"
or in the case of deeper cleaning with water and soap sing
"White Christmas"--which is LONGER.) She's also showing
5 or 6 different movements of the hands in really getting
the "tight" areas of the hands sanitized.

It's a good watch especially for young children who are
just learning about washing their hands, etc.

cheers

When using hand sanitizer (they recommend at least 62% alcohol, but the Germ-Ex brand is 70%) you should puddle it in your palm and dip each finger in it first, to get under the finger nails. Then sing White Xmas.

viruses are so small, they pass right through every single mask you see a person on the tv wearing. its a total placebo. if you can breath air through it, you sucked the virus in. the only option is sealed and supplied air or endless canisters, which are dangerous as hell after they are spent and changing them in a hot zone, is death.

i think the real problem is mutation. the base virus is so spread and has many options to thrive or die off in. it may eventually become specific.

Flu virus doesn't live long on surfaces - about 24 hours on hard surfaces and just a few minutes on soft surfaces. Most of the transmission is person to person contact. Flu also does not like hot temperatures over 90 degrees when it is also very humid. If it starts to spread here, wear masks, gloves, keep body parts covered, and get your groceries early in the morning right after the store opens and there are not a lot of people around. Beyond that, humidify your house. Get a pneumonia vaccination. Stay away from crowded places, especially where there are a lot of kids. Schools are breeding grounds for flu.

So what we know,
incubation 2-14 days (both ends of spectrum)
Highly likely that it spreads without symptoms during lower viral load.
Chinese Communists lie and are hiding the numbers while WHO kisses their butt.
R naught is the highest that things have had in recent years, and is springing up in places around the world.
China has 3% of their population in quarantine, which does not contain all of the infected places.
They are canceling the most important holiday of the year which is a decent part of their economy, while claiming less than 1k infected.

Am I missing any major points?

Glad the thread was pinned so I found it, now we can go back to the memory hole.

Should we post it to the Ebola and other thread Nasty so that pool beeches and such can find it?

I used to keep a bottle of rubbing alcohol (70%) in the vehicle ... when done shopping, I'd grab that bottle and pour some in my hands, and basically 'wash up' with it. It dries pretty fast...

Been using 'sanitizer' for the last couple of years...

They would have to vacinate the entire planet -- paid for by US taxpayers, of course.

Problem is, any vaccine will be like the flu shot -- worthless for anything but that specific strain. By the time any vaccine can be developed, the damage will be done.

What's irritating is that China has been the source of, and incubating, deadly microbes since apparently the era of the Great Plague centuries ago. More recently, the Spanish flu in the early 1900s. Yet apathy to basic hygiene and avoiding risky behaviors like eating sleazy things has never caught on with a lot of that nation's culture and population.

WTF is wrong with so many humans?

The dumb Chinese who don't know where to draw the line are variations of all the dumb Americans who don't know where to draw the line when it comes to the Clintons/Obamas/Bidens/Schiffs of the US.

Something interesting(to me, anyway)

Boxun (an aggregation website, which focuses on alleged political scandals in China) has been covering the outbreak for the last few days, posting news critical of the Chinese gov't, and some good info I haven't seen elsewhere.

Today's articles are now about:

air pollution and miscarriage
tips for losing that extra holiday weight
eating lilies for fall and winter dry throat and overall health

Looks like there has been a crackdown on any questions/criticisms. Not surprising.

The Chinese are losing control of this jinn, and I agree with your earlier post -- could they decide to go full retard as a consequence of losing face.

Losing face is one thing Asians do not well abide.

Gotta factor in the size of the particles that transmit viruses from the family Coronaviridae.

[link to www.cdc.gov (secure)]

CDC says aerosol coughing and sneezing is how it spreads in the air.

[link to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov (secure)]

The above research paper/article states the size of the aerosol particles produced via coughing:

.35 to 10 microns.

[link to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov (secure)]

The above research paper/article states the size of particles produced by sneezing, which is ranges from:

The geometric mean of 74.4 microns for one of two types of sneezing (standard deviation 1.7), and

360.1 microns for the other type of sneezing(standard deviation 1.5).

[link to www.envirosafetyproducts.com (secure)]

The above website is corroborated by several other websites.

So actually, what you state is wrong. a P100 Mask will keep the airborne particles that actually transmit this virus will not bypass the protection a P100 mask, blocking 99.7% of particles starting from .30 microns and up.

I have some brown bottles of Lysol ordered.

When at University, I worked in a very high end restaurant as a VIP room server. We maintained a small bucket of water with 1/4 cup of the brown lysol dissolved in the water. After any interaction with customers, touching serve ware, touching trays, notepads, etc, we dipped our hands & dried them with a clean paper towel. The liquid immersion hit every nook and cranny up to our elbows. Yes, we also had lotion to keep from getting dried out hands, and to lessen the lysol smell.

Reason -- such a restaurant could take no chances on customers getting sick, nor could they afford sick staff (the caliber of staff required for such a restaurant is difficult to find & recruit). While I worked there, no customers ever complained of illness, and none of the staff ever became sick.

When I get the Lysol in, I will be implementing the hand sanitizing protocol with my family.
