I'm not saying the antichrist isn't involved in the gog magog war - because I do believe there are 2 leaders here.

But at this point - we wouldn't know he's the antichrist - because his identity is not revealed until he defiles the temple and declares he's greater than God.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75964014

It's controversial whether satan is gog.

The argument is satan and gog are one.

There is no reason why satan can't control gog - the same way he controls the antichrist.

Meaning they are not one in the same - but 2 separate critters.

With gog representing a leader

A question I have for Rev 20

8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea

Is - satan goes out to deceive the nations of the earth, and out of nowhere inserts the names gog and magog.

It's commonly believed it's because these are enemies of the kingdom - but so are all the nations satan deceived.

This could be interpreted many ways - and is.

Most say gog and magog are just countries.

Some read it to say - satan deceived the nations, deceived gog, and deceived magog.

Of course there is a very significant reason God placed them in this verse - and it will probably be debated til the end of the millenia.

However as one person said -

The names/terms of associated with Gog and Magog are in question. Much of the biblical documentation is in Ezekiel (Ezek. 38-39).

One last thing, let's examine these verses from Revelation 19 and Ezekiel 39:

Revelation 19:17-19 – Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

Ezekiel 39:17-22 – come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood. Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan. And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.

These verses lead many to believe there are 2 separate wars in Ezekiel - gog magog and Armageddon.

What we may have in Ezekiel 39 is a duality in time.

The words all men of war seem to suggest just that.

Based on this verse:

Dan 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

It appears to make necessary the fact that Ezekiel must also be a current event.

I've gone over Daniel in a prior post and it states briefly, that Israel must pay for her sins and God forgives them.

Therefore all after Ezekiel 39:22 cannot be futuristic.

I'll explain why.

But first I want to show why I think Ezekiel 39 has a dual purpose;

In Joel 3:9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up....2 ...I will also gather all nations (in the war of armageddon)

In Ezekiel 39:20 ...all men of war - meaning the men involved in the gog magog war

And in Rev 19 - flesh of all men (in the war of armageddon).

Therefore, we have a futuristic look at the war of armageddon in Ezekiel 39; however, it remains current - because the antichrist can't be revealed until after the gog magog war:

Hence:

Dan 8:23

when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up - the antichrist.

11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O Lord.

13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76109193

OP forgot the part where the entire world will not know till it happens. regardless of all these signs also.

So you are wrong in this entire thing. Not even you will know when it's the time.

You can guess all day long. It can come at a time of world peace ...everyone getting a long. nations working together...but they leave out god and erase religion.

That is the time where the world will forget god...not now.

Its perfect...false world salvation by the anti-Christ. What better way to trick all of mankind to follow a false profit and forget the real god.

We won't see the end, we will just see the first few stages of the end. It's not going to happen quickly.

We are just frogs in a pot that's slowly boiling right now.
We have no idea we are being cooked (mankind itself)

For the end to come, requires the world to forget jeesus and worship the antichrist...be it directly or indirectly with ignorance.
We are screwed, without faith.

There's a tremendous amount of speculation on where they will flee to.

Zechariah 14 - may give us some clues:

In Zechariah, not only are the Israelis told to flee - but according to this author Jesus splits the mountains for them to escape to safetly; stating Zechariah obviously expects us to connect this event to the Exodus and this is why the prophecy is written in the way it is;

From SamuelWhitefield

Small excerpt:

In the Exodus, Moses stood and stretched out his hands over the sea to initiate the divine act of deliverance. In Zechariah, the Lord stands on the mountain overlooking the city to deliver His people.

In the Exodus, a sea was split. In Zechariah a mountain is split.

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Here in Dan 11:31 - we see his army polluting the 'holy place' and stopping the priests from sacrificing animals.

Then that moment arrives - the antichrist declares to the world he is god.

His anger at God will be considerable - and he'll seek to form alliances against the Jewish people

Daniel 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Most of us are familiar with the antichrist defiling the temple.

Here in Dan 11:31 - we see his army polluting the 'holy place' and stopping the priests from sacrificing animals.

Then that moment arrives - the antichrist declares to the world he is god.

How do we know it's the 'end times' antichrist and not Antiochus epiphanes?

Because Daniel 12 tells us it is - and 2 Thess 2 substantiates it.

Dan 11:29 At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.

He may have a new title as a leader - also, could possibly be the time that he gives his soul to satan; and receives power from satan.

Daniel 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
