CDC is taking too long to approve a very standard method for determining whether someone is infected with Wuhan virus. Why the foot-dragging? Also, their criteria for who gets tested is way too limited. Test everyone who was in China in the last 2 weeks. Test everyone with pneumonia. This is doable with the method (real time PCR) that they are using. Even small labs can test 96 samples at a time. The US has many institutions which could easily test thousands a day. Enlist their help. Don’t make them get lots of approvals. Involve the President if necessary, but get it done now.

I say he got sick on one of those early trips to Wuhan. There is no good reason for a healthy Xi not to be in public every day reassuring the peasants that all is well.

Feb 21 maybe peak day for coronavirus outbreak: Yale expert

February 21 could be a turning point in the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, a public health expert from Yale University predicted in an exclusive interview with the Global Times.

Latest official data showed 3,235 new patients were confirmed as having the virus on Monday night, compared with 2,829 cases a day before, bringing the total number to surpass 20,000. The rapid increase in the confirmed diagnoses means that the epidemic is moving towards its peak, which is of utmost concern.

Renowned Chinese respiratory scientist Zhong Nanshan told the media on Sunday that the outbreak is expected to peak in the next 10 days to about two weeks, which means the peak period will occur between February 12-16.

Disinfecting the streets? This makes no sense to me if it is just droplet and close contact.

Something is fucky here. Either fake video or we are dealing with something way, way worse than droplets and hugging your wife.

Some are saying it's spraying for mosquito control, but in winter? With highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s, I can't imagine much of a bug problem now.

There is zero chance that's spraying for bugs.
