I really wish people would stop downplaying the numbers released from China.

Besides the fact they are most likely not reporting real numbers, how many have not been tested? I keep hearing there is not a test for it and the delays in checking people here is because they are sending samples to the cdc and waiting for results.

So how many people in China aren't tested? How many of the dead haven't been tested? If they aren't testing they're not including them in the numbers.

Look at how they are shutting down cities. That's not normal. No one would do that for the flu or a virus that has only killed 80 people when the flu kills so many more. None of this is adding up.

Wasn't worried about ebola or most of the other things we've heard about and followed her. However, worried about this one.

Then consider the average American believes what they are told by the news. y'all criticising the Chinese for knowing they are sick and leaving China, but how many Americans go to work and do other things knowing they are sick? There are cases here, one being a person from China that has been here (some may not have even known they were infected). They have been out in public shedding this for however long. We will soon see the effects of it spreading here if it's that bad. if not, some of us are prepared and if we are left with supplies and such, we are. Worst case is that it spreads and it's even worse and what we have still didn't help.

So much is unknown and until it is, don't make assumptions. You know the saying be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

Note: I prep with basmati because 1. We prefer basmati;
2. It cooks much faster than other rices -- 1 cup rice, 1.5 cups water, bring to boil, cover & simmer 9 minutes, let set another 5, uncover, fluff with fork and you are good to go.

I like to rinse the rice well before cooking to remove all the starches, BUT, if we are in a survival situation, those starches are needed by the body; eat them.

I was just sitting in the hot tub musing that if I were King, I'd be closing down schools and institutions of higher learning for several weeks.

Ah, to be King.

What's just as concerning to me is that if there were more recoveries, I'd want to be sure to get that out immediately so it looks to the world like I'm getting shit worked out. But, they are not.

Now, is it an administrative issue, or a lack of recoveries. If the situation is as dire as it sounds, I would assume there would come a point where the administrative aspect would go out the window. Also, there will come a point where they either stop testing and treat symptoms, or run out of tests.

Either way, it's a plot for a great sci-fi movie. I hope you are taking notes, you can write a screenplay or book off this situation.

With the price of wages in China you know not many people like to miss work or have their company not running and earning. Look at how workers get treated and the hours and efficiency they have to work at to keep the job. The empty streets in overcrowded areas. Can you imagine NY looking like that? Public transit shut down. Something serious is going on when money flow starts to get shut down. I wonder what the Chinese local news is programming them with.

There have been ZERO outbreaks in any other country. Just China.

This virus has been around since October or November.

There would have already been outbreaks in SOME other country by now. This makes NO sense, at all.

I am not worried as long as there are no major outbreaks in first world countries.

An outbreak in a first world country would actually show us the TRUE numbers. It would tell us how weak or severe it is. It would tell us the mortality rate.

Right now, all of the experts are saying this is a weak flu for most. Yes, for some it is severe. For MOST, however, it is not even enough to go to the hospital.

Logic. No outbreaks in any other country, yet. I'm not overly worried. No reason to panic or spend foolish money on supplies.
