Nail salon worker tests positive for coronavirus days after Oklahoma shop reopens

An Oklahoma nail salon announced Wednesday that one of its workers tested positive for COVID-19 less than two weeks after the store reopened as the state relaxed its coronavirus restrictions.

The Nailspot, located in Bartlesville in norrthwest Oklahoma, said it will close its doors for two weeks, per the recommendation from the Washington County Health Department.

The shop reopened May 5 after being closed since March 26, it said on its Facebook page. Oklahoma’s nail salons, as well as hair salons and barbershops, were allowed by Gov. Kevin Stitt to reopen April 24, KTEN reported.

One of the workers who was at the salon May 5-7 was exposed to coronavirus, the salon wrote May 7 on Facebook. At the time, it remained open and said it was “taking every precaution to ensure the safety and well being” of its patrons and staff.

The only possible way such a drug could work on a virus is if it has the ability to interfere with mRNA transcription in parasites and viruses.

Coronavirus: Over 40 Covid-19 cases traced to church service in Germany

More than 40 churchgoers who attended a service after lockdown was eased in Germany earlier this month have contracted coronavirus, officials say.

The service was held on 10 May at a Baptist church in Frankfurt.

Church officials say they followed social distancing rules and disinfected the building ahead of the service.

Second hairstylist with COVID-19 may have exposed 56 clients, Missouri officials say



A second hairdresser working at Great Clips in Springfield, Missouri, has tested positive for COVID-19 and has potentially exposed the virus to clients, Missouri health officials said.

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department said on Saturday that a second stylist tested positive for the coronavirus and worked from May 16 to May 20 while having “very mild symptoms” but was “potentially infectious,” according to a press release.

“At this time, this is the only other positive result we have had from those tested as a result of the previous exposure,” the department wrote in the release.

The stylist potentially exposed 56 clients and all those involved were wearing face coverings, according to the department. The clients will be alerted by the Health Department and offered COVID-19 testing, according to the release.

I was going to post articles about failures of social distancing at beaches, boardwalks, churches, graduation parties (there was a private party of over 900 people in Carolina), and then I realized there are SO many stories it doesn't really matter anymore.

People are behaving like the pandemic is over.

Sometimes being intelligent is a curse. It allows you to see the future. I can see no good outcome. I was hoping that we wouldn't see Wave 2 (or Wave 1 Redux) until this Fall. I think that projection is optimistic. We are going to see a crushing wave of sick people in a few weeks. And it's going to be younger people, too.

I have not seen one epidemiology report in the last 2 months with specific information on the dead and/or infected. How old are these people that are dying? We hear generalities, but there is no info on this. Why is that? Perhaps it fails to agree with the "over 65" or "it only affects old people" memes. Show me your work. Saying things like "the median age" is a statistical ploy, and a means nothing. I don't want the median. I would take the mean (average) age, but really want to see it broken down in 5 year increments (20-24, 25-29, 30-34.....)

This is evolving from a Kobayashi Maru scenario, to societal suicide. As a whole, we aren't even trying anymore. We are foregoing short-term pain for long term destruction. I hope I am wrong. Someone please show me how I am wrong. How I'm over reacting. Show me a glimmer of hope.

I am currently sitting in a hotel room in Louisville. Tonight I am participating in private paranormal investigation at Waverly Hills Sanatorium. Masks and social distance will be required. Perhaps the masks will act as trigger objects. It is very exhausting traveling while trying to reduce/eliminate risk. But, I want to do a few more normal things before the New Normal from what's to come.

Right now, personal risk can be mitigated. But, time is short. However, soon simple trips outside the house will be "virus roulette" but more than one chamber will be loaded. Enjoy these next few days; the people exposed this weekend will likely become infectious in the next 5 days.

Iowa ages of positives:

18-40 years old: 42%
41-60 years old: 36%

So, 78% of the positive tests are between 18 and 60 years old.

Now deaths:

18-60 years old: 12% (18-40: 2%)

55 out of 459 deaths under 60.

Louisiana child's possible coronavirus-linked MIS-C death the first in state

A child in Louisiana has died of a rare inflammatory condition that’s possibly linked to the novel coronavirus, marking the first such death in the state, health officials said this week.

In addition to the one death, at least 13 cases of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) have also been reported in the Bayou State. No other details were provided on the child who died, with officials with the Louisiana Department of Health citing privacy concerns for the family, according to a news release provided to Fox News.

Sweden’s COVID Death Rate Now Ten Times Higher than Norway’s

There have now been ten times as many COVID-19 deaths in Sweden than Norway on a per capita basis.

According to the Worldometers website, 435 out of every one million Swedes have died from the virus, while the virus has killed 44 out of every million Norwegians.

Norway imposed a lockdown to slow the spread of the coronavirus early on March 12, but the country reopened schools early in May. “Our goal is that by June 15 we will have reopened most of the things that were closed,” Norway’s prime minister said at a press conference earlier this month.

Its neighbor Sweden, by contrast, took a more lax approach: The government banned events with more than 50 people and shut down universities and secondary schools but imposed few other restrictions.

Swedish government officials said lockdowns could do little to save lives over the long term and that their more lax approach would let their society reach herd immunity more quickly and lessen the economic pain the country would endure. “About 30 percent of people in Stockholm have reached a level of immunity,” Karin Ulrika Olofsdotter, the Swedish ambassador to the United States, told NPR on April 26. “We could reach herd immunity in the capital as early as next month.”
