There is no reason for the Earth rotation to be stopped, it obviously hasn´t happened in billions of years. I insist, no physical reason at all. Neither for bizarre splittings or for the things quoted above. For the surface to become covered by very very very thick ice layers a lot of things would have to happen... you can expect fast depositions in some regions but NOT widespread very very very thick layers. The very existence of the OCEANS is against a quick widespread freezing, and as the earth is quite active... even against a widespread freezing in the long run. Which does not rule out the posibility of extensive freezings, which are well precedented.

The Earth would not stop revolving, neither orbiting while it is not impacted by an object so large and so fast... to make it out of Sol attraction, which is very very very very very unlikely, fortunately so. It seems that we still ignore any massive companion for Sol, saying the very very very very very small Jupiter could get much more massive than Sol in the short run is ABSURD. Perhaps it would be a Star if it survives Sol desintegration... in the very very very very very faaaaaaaaaar future.

Ah, once that the earth expanding stresses are relieved/released... it would not matter if there is another triggering because the potential triggered event would not have much energy to be relevant. The timing between the "triggerings" would have nothing to do with the timing of the clearance of the atmosphere because that would depend just on the amount and properties of the expelled materials, and their fallout/depositation rates. Sunlight would inevitably reach the floor quite fast in geologic timeframes, but that could be long in a human perception. For example, the eruption of Krakatau in the 1883 makes for three years of strange sunsets and a widespread cool down of more than 1° Celsius.

There is even no need for an additional "extraterrestrial triggering" for such events, as the pressure would have to be released sooner or later... IF it is not being released in a gradual way, as thought (but not confirmed) by most geologists. However, the additional extraterrestrial influences are quite possible... as if not how would you explain the "planetary tilts permanence" at all? Or perhaps there are other better explanations for that.

Enough for now, would see if i feel compelled to contest on the very very very very VERY SWAMPY, swampiest EVER at least to S. who C. comments/reponses by ST in BG regarding most of the other "sharings" that came with the above quote.

Wispys have trouble remembering things sometimes.. but I think I remember something about 3 days of darkness caused by the earth not rotating.

When Krakatoa erupted, the ash affected the sunlight penetrating the atmosphere. If I remember correctly, it was called the "Year without a summer". Can you imagine what hundreds of volcano outlets would do?

Well, even more days of darkness in a radius of hundred of kilometers from Krakatau. With Tambora eruption it was actually even worst, but of course not global darkness. A year without summer indeed and about three years with very strange sunsets, allegedly beautiful ones, all around the globe. The global temperatures plummeted about 1 or 1.5 ° Celsius for some years. And this were just individual large eruptions, not even supervolcanic ones. Santorini was much worst, it ended the Minoic civilization and probably was related to the plagues of Egypt and the exodus.

But Santorini, the black sea flood, the minor large eruptions were all... like minor activity, perhaps. Yes.

The posible destruction of prior civilizations, such as Atlantis, Mu and other myths... might had been widespread volcanotectonism examples, or perhaps just... ice melting byeffects coming at the end of the last ice age. Nevertheless, it is possible that volcanotectonism and ice changes are thoroughly related.

Had you seen meteors yourself?

Last weekend sight was my third, i think, it was not particullary interesting/amazing, it just goes for some seconds, less than a minute. It was not too much larger than more frequent small meteors/ meteor falls of which i had seen quite more before. But it was different of course.

Once i saw a large meteor falling in the horizon, while dawn. The sun was almost uncovered by the mountains and then we saw a large orange and redish object with a long tail. The tail most had been about 100 kms at least. Later it was announced that pieces of the meteorite were collected from an area of about 1,000 square kms over some mountain ranges. That was the most amazing i had witnessed.

There are some examples of supervolcanism: Calderas as Yellowstone and Ngorongoro, of which there are plenty; and major extrusion of magma as in the Deccan, india. The Deccan covered a radius of about 800+ km, can you imagine that? Curiously it was more or less in the other side of the planet (antipodal) to the Chixchulub impact crater (in an Earth of lesser radius of course), which could not necessarily could be such a thing as it could be also a supervolcano... Strange major examples.

The later two were involved in the k/t mass extinction, but neither alone, and specially not Chixchulub alone, could had caused such havock. It surely was much more complex.

Look now, there are at least five meteors or so it seems, all coming from NE and going towards SW. It doesnt look too much as artifacts, such as the western coast ones, which are not. Five meteors falling today! WOW???! What if one check this more often? Interesting.

I think i just found a google map and seen the small earthquakes, well those are so small , yellow stone i believe has been getting small earth quakes for awhile, in the 2.5 to 3.0 range, yeah as i didnt think we would have gotten in the 7's else i think i would have already heard about it from someone, hehehehehe....

Thanks so much ST for the email, i looked at the thread for trin and didnt see you post their, i was confused if you posted to that thread.

When i was home after i checked the email , i went to glp , logged in and clicked my name and my mouse froze up and wasnt able to proceed, tried different things and couldnt get it to work, maybe the mouse battery wore out, but now i'm at parents house where i am staying and checked the other threads i posted to trinity and didnt see you post to them, i thought in the email you said you did, well thanks for wispy's email, i didnt get to email her yet, but now that i'm at my parents i won't be able to untill i go back and see what wrong with why my computer froze up as i didnt want to fix the problem this mourning as i came back here to sleep and get ready for work this afternoon.

I was talking to lisa at work and cause i may get bumped up to a operators position and she said now you could afford a 401 k plan , she said i should invest the 3 percent cause she says that is taken out before taxes and i could really use that money when i retire she says, i didnt really say much , just like yeah yeah as i didnt want to say much about it and i really don't plan on participating in 401 k plan.

The operator position would be possible over $14 an hour, its a forklift/berry dumper and operate some of equipment to make it run, as i don't want to go into details, but what is also weird to me is that when i finnally have the best overall paying job that i won't really be able to enjoy the income as your stating its all going to end before i can really have great income coming in continuously for years to come.
