Let the Ukrainians bring their equipment to the party. Ummm, that's why you have re-supply/fuel tankers follow on. Don't matter though, IF Kiev is a target, Russian para-troopers/spec. forces will be air dropped in. |

You mean distance that the tank can actually drive before refill, Or 290 miles range when shooting ? Sorry I have no clue . That's air defence or rocket artillery. I haven't seen any Russian tanks being trucked in so far. |

You don't see a problem with that? Russia's not pointing guns at Crimea...lol Crimea wants to join them. It's more like the illegal acting government of Ukraine that is pointing guns towards Crimea. Did Crimea want to join Russia PRIOR to Russian troops moving in? Did they have a strong independence movement in the past years? Did they try to organize a referendum before? What you and others don't understand is that a country moving its troops on a piece of land then organizing a referendum on it to rubberstamp its annexation is ILLEGAL. And should be called so even if nothing can be done about it. |

Any group of people that strongly desire becoming independent should be given the opportunity. The Chechnya situation should not be used as a pretext to stop Crimea from doing as they wish. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54681128 After the break up of ussr, russia was very weak and in no condition to fight. So the bear went in to hibernation to gather strength. White the cat is away, the mice will play. Eu is nothing more than the old ussr. Very quickly they gobbled up the eastern nations and annexed them in to old style ussr. Their control over banking, loans and rules pressured the eu eststes in to poverty. Eg, portugal, spain, greece , cyprus. People lost their money and pensions and ended up with ever increasing taxes. The only way this eu could survive was to join US and attack smaller nations with resources and steal their wealth. Meanwhile the russian bear was watching them but still not enough energy to put a stop to all this. The eu and US were on a roll and had a free pass to smaller nations. Anyone they cared for. Afghanistan, iraq, parts of africa, libya etc etc. However one nation resisted. Iran. One of the oldest civilisations on earth. Try as they might they could not get through. They hufed and buffed and still the old civilisation stood still. So they tried the back door, syria, and turned the place in to hell. Meanwhile the bear had woken up and was having his wheatabix. Soon he would be ready to roar. Bear had been sleep for a long time, so the mice had forgotten what the bear was like once and carried on playing. When they were about to totally shit on syria, the bear roard and they were all taken back and stopped. But old habits die hard, cos they still didn't remember how fierce the bears claws were and so they started poking the bear. Now the bear is awake and ready for action. Maybe a bit rusty when he swipes first time round but he gets better and stronger as the battle starts my favourite bedtime story |

(CVX) signed agreements last year to drill unexplored shale formations in Ukraine, offering the chance to upgrade the country’s energy infrastructure and boost domestic production, thus reducing the amount of gas imported from Russia... While the oil companies can spend their money in other countries, the investment, which could eventually be worth more than $10 billion, is vital to Ukraine’s quest to pull away from Russian control and revive an economy on the verge of collapse after three months of violent protest... Exxon was close to signing an agreement to drill exploration wells in the Skifska area of Ukraine’s part of the Black Sea before the current crisis erupted. The deal, which would have seen Exxon commit $735 million to drill just two offshore wells, remains in limbo... Even if drilling continues, production on a significant scale will take several years and the threat remains that Russia will use energy to maintain its influence over Ukraine -- its goal since protests first started in Kiev last year, when Yanukovych ditched a deal to strengthen ties with the EU. “Ukraine is still very reliant on energy from Russia,” said Leslie Holmes, professor of political science at the University of Melbourne. “So Russia still has a trump card up its sleeve.” |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31894440 Yeah I know. It's like nutland. Just let the people vote like they have done elsewhere, figure out a way to monitor that the vote is done properly and go with that. That's why I can't understand Harper going along with this unless he know's it's going to be war. He will lose the election over this I bet. Apparently you don't understand what the problem is. Russia has taken hold of Crimea and is now organizing a referendum to rubberstamp its conquest. And you two don't understand what's wrong with it. DUH Jewharder. To see how well Jews have done in Putin’s Russia, take a look of Forbes’s 2013 list of Russian billionaires. Judging from surnames, about 21 Russian billionaires are Jewish. Another 20 are Central Asian or Middle Eastern (e.g., Armenians, Georgians, Kazakhs, etc.), and 69 are Eastern European. (Russia, by the way, has a ridiculous number of billionaires. Poland, a better-governed country, only has four.) So people with Jewish surnames making up 19 percent of Forbes‘s list of Russian billionaires is pretty good when they number something like 0.13 percent of Russia’s population. It’s only compared to the glory days of the Yeltsin years that Jews have reason for complaint. As Amy Chua of the Yale Law School had the courage to point out in 2003: After a decade of advice from American economists, five of the seven top Russian oligarchs were wholly of Jewish descent and another was half-Jewish. Putin, in contrast, has succeeded in making Russia’s oligarchs look more like Russia, bringing diversity to the ranks of billionaires, thus defusing a major incitement to anti-Semitism. In our Russia liveblog, we are following developments in Russia where the Russian government is targeting independent media. First, they fired the editor of the independent and not-state-owned Lenta.ru for an interview they published with the leader of Ukraine’s Right Sector. Today, they blocked several opposition websites and websites critical of the government, including the blog of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Is this related to Ukraine? Maybe. In fact, there’s a strong possibility, as the spark that seems to have set this wave of censorship off is the crisis in Ukraine. But one also needs to consider that Russia has its own internal problems, and censorship of the press is nothing new. As the economy of Russia falters, partially as a result of this crisis, those internal tensions become even more important to what happens next. [link to www.interpretermag.com] |

The people of Crimea are against that coup and finally decided to renegate it by taking matters into their own hands...meaning they are getting out. Now it will be up to the people to vote on it shortly. Russia is not invading anything no matter how much you try to repeat that. |

There were public events devoted to this issue, many prominent politicians promised to get back to this question sooner or later. Basically Crimea has not yet become a fully Ukrainian territory during its half of the century in Ukraine. |

Sounds like they're spoiled little brats or an ethnicity that thought itself above all others in Ukraine. It's better for Ukraine to let them go and flush twice afterward. |
