Hello everyone! Glad to hear that the holiday went well for most (sorry for the problem, CS. Moms can be that way, sometimes. Mine certainly has here moments!) I had a great Thanksgiving, which was a welcome relief after the last month or so. I've been on here a few times to read & catch up, but I'm WAAAYYY behind again.

Short synopsis:

Grandson is clean except for a couple of times smoking pot.
Fiancee is doing hard drugs again, and living with people we know - they call it "the compound" - it's a horrible drug haven.

My great-granddaughter Sadie is now under legal guardianship of the 2 grandmas and 2 great-grandmas, with us 2 'greats' doing most of the care-giving since the grandmas work. I love to take care of her, but I'm way too old to do this for very long. It wears me out!

Some real good signs with grandson - he has been a real help when I have Sadie. He's just not ready to have full custody.

Fiancee asked the judge to order her into inpatient treatment. He did so. She has until 11/30 to get admitted. Or face arrest for contempt of court.

Grandson and fiancee have about 6 months to get themselves cleaned up and ready to be parents. Their judge is a hard-nose, so they can't skip by.

My Mom is having some real health issues - she has had CHF for many years, but now her meds aren't working. Her feet were really swollen when we were at her house for Thanksgiving. We all cooked food & brought it there, so we could spend the holiday with her. I got really concerned when she showed me her ankle. It was bruised really badly (she is a free bleeder), but it split open during the night and she doesn't know how it happened. She goes to the doctor next week, so I'm anxious to know what they will do. She's 87, and is having more & more issues. I'm afraid she's going downhill pretty fast.

Simple, you & Ryan will be in my prayers Monday. I've known several people who have had that procedure. Some of them were fairly advanced in age, and did very well. We will just believe that Ryan will too!!! I'm glad you caught the low potassium problem and got treatment. It can definitely be dangerous. Please take good care of yourself!!!!!

It's been great to catch up on the rest of you guys! I hope everyone is doing well. Stay warm, if you're in the cold areas. And watch out for the traffic and crazies - the shopping season is upon us! I'll be doing most of my shopping online, as well. I just don't like the crowds! (That's my Bah! Humbug! side...)

Love to all of you! It's good to get back to some sanity, coming here. Oh yes, I did quit my job - and 2 days later had the baby for nearly 2 weeks!!! God has a plan that we often don't see....

The low potassium is definitely scary and something to be alert to. I'm glad you're so good about going to the doctor! Fingers crossed the pills help and they can figure out what's causing the deficiency. Love to Ryan as well, I was really hoping at his young age it would end up being nothing more than a scare. I hate to hear he has to have this invasive procedure. I will be thinking about you both in the coming days!

Me either! I'm trying to focus on the now, though. I just got back from my last event of the weekend and I'm so glad to have my sweats on and can totally chill tonight/tomorrow. Trying to enjoy that, and not think about Monday. Gonna work on getting my Xmas tree up in spurts, and also make some turkey soup tomorrow. Made the turkey stock yesterday, so making the soup tomorrow will be easy.

Of course, you've got it worse than me because you're coming off a whole week of vacation, not a long weekend like myself, but do your best to enjoy the moment and try not to think ahead. I hear video games help distract people tounge

Just myself & mini tonight for dinner. I'm gonna try this...

Those sound delish! I'm eating leftover thanksgiving (again) whenever I get around to it. This will be the last of it! At least of what I brought home. Except for some additional turkey, which will be used for the soup.

It came out pretty good! We had leftovers last night so I wanted to put this recipe to good use before it went bad lol.

Hi my friends. I could use some prayers. I’ve put this off as long as I could, but it’s time.

Last Friday I had a situation that landed me in the ER overnight. Ultimately it got blamed on uterine fibroids that I have (and told them about prior to the ultrasound). I lost a lot of blood that day & night.

Incidentally during my trip to the ER they tested my potassium and found it to be pretty low. It was 3.0. They gave me some potassium pills right away and told me to eat bananas lol. That was the extent of it. Fast forward to Tuesday and I had to have lab work done for my hematologist. One of the things tested was again my potassium, which has now dropped to 2.7. My primary care doctor received these results and immediately prescribed me 3,000 mg of potassium per day for the next 15 days. I will be retested about a week after finishing those 15 days. A potassium level of 2.5 and below is considered life-threatening and you get admitted into the hospital and put on IV potassium, which I’ve read can be quite painful and feel like your veins are burning. :\ Heart failure can occur with a low potassium level, and mine is getting close to life-threatening. Hopefully these potassium pills work. I can’t swallow them because they are HUGE! I have to dissolve them in water and then drink the water. Blah! Lol.

Moving along to bigger and scarier things…

My other half, who is also a GLP’er (although doesn’t visit frequently here anymore) is more in need of prayers. He’s got some blockage in his heart arteries. On Monday he goes in for a heart catheterization and likely a PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention). Stent. We’ll be at the hospital for hours, mostly due to the recovery period after the procedure/surgery. There are MANY complications that can take place during this procedure, including heart failure on the table. Please keep him in your prayers. His name is Ryan.

Thank you Prayer Warriors! Much love for you all and you ALL are ALWAYS in my prayers! grouphug

Granny, so glad to hear your grandson is doing as well as he is. I'm worried about the child's mother though. I hope she comes to her senses and gets herself into treatment before the deadline. Sorry to hear about your mom, it's so taxing to care for aging parents and see them decline. Continued well wishes to all of you. Glad you checked in!

Simple my Dad has had 2 stents one 10 years ago and the other about 1 year ago. The Drs normally put you on a blood thinner after the procedure. Normally you are not put under but just relaxed for the procedure. Remember my Dad is 97 now and the blood thinner - Plavex was one of the items he had to be off of when he had his hip replacement about 6 months ago.

Another is my cousin that actually had a heart attack and they did an angeogram but did not install any stents. He changed his diet and exercised even more under the guidance of a heart rehab facility. Then about 10 months later he had another heart attack and they put in two stents and he is back on the amends.

Here is one more a friend of mine had an angeogram just two weeks ago and they found minor blockage in one of the arteries on the back side of his heart and they did not install a stent. His recovery took a few days because after the procedure the doctors are VERY concerned about the site in his leg where they inserted the cathedar.
It appears that each case might be unique to the situation.
Prayers sent to you and Ryan.
