Aww bummer! I don't think I'm far behind you on that. I've always prided myself on getting this far in life with perfect eyesight, but thanks to staring at computers all the time, it's starting to take a bit of a toll.

I'm supposed to wear glasses when I drive at night, but I hardly ever do lol. I definitely feel like my eyes are getting weaker for the same reason...staring at a computer all the time. But it's not like I have a choice really. :\

I'm usually on top of what's going on with the moon, but I didn't realize until last night when I came home that it's nearly full. That might explain my week. 98.8% full right now.

I've been slacking on the moon lately too and it's been cloudy and rainy here so much that I haven't seen her much. Last weekend when I went outside with my neighbor we saw it. It was GORGEOUS!!

It's pretty cloudy here today, but I'm hoping to see her up there tonight. According to my app she rises at 9:10pm (est).

Didn't realize it, but most of the flags are missing since the site was down and came back up this morning. It's weird, a few flags are showing up, but most are not.

Thread: Who nicked the flags?

Land of Living Skies on display as Regina hit by storm Friday morning

If you caught sight of the shelf cloud before the storm that hit Regina early Friday morning, you may have thought it would come down on top of you before the lightning, thunder and rain rolled in.

In the case of the cloud which made its way across southern Saskatchewan, which stretched from the U.S. border nearly up to Davidson, Sask., it actually started in southern Alberta on Thursday.

THE STRAWBERRY FULL MOON: According to folklore, tonight's full Moon is the Strawberry Moon, named after plants that bear their delicious red fruit during the month of June. But if this is really the Strawberry Moon, why does it look so ... orange?

John Stetson photographed the carotene-colored orb setting over Sebago Lake, Maine, on June 8th: [link to spaceweathergallery.com]

The orange color is imprinted by the atmosphere. When the Moon is hanging low, airborne dust and other particles scatter blue from moonlight, leaving only red and orange hues.
Something else happens when the Moon is hanging low: The Moon Illusion magnifies the apparent size of the orb. It looks huge. Some commentators have pointed out that the June 9th Strawberry Moon is a "mini-Moon" because it is located on the distant apogee side of the Moon's elliptical orbit. Apogee is no match for the Moon Illusion, though. Look for the Strawberry Moon rising in the east at sunset. It's a huge delight.

Lol!

Mini was in glasses from about 3 years old until she was about 10. I loved them! When she was little she had a pair that had red frames and they were the cutest! She's always had perfect vision, but she had a problem with one of her eyes turning in so the glasses were to correct that. Now she doesn't have to wear them and the problem is gone.

More massive progress.

Yesterday was our company retreat. It was at a local university's recreation center. It was huge. I walked the entire length of the rec center to enter and to the other end to where part of the retreat was being held. Main event activities are still off limits to me (35 feet high on ropes and due to my knee surgery recovery) but I could watch and take video.

For the first time in 9 months:

1. I wore the entire ensemble for the first time (pants + shoes).
2. I walked 3500 times more than I have over the past 9 months.
3. I walked on dirt and grass for the first time.

WATCH 5 Death-Diving Comets Plunge into Sun

Five comets dove headlong toward the sun in a cosmic death-dive captured on camera by a spacecraft (June 6-9).

The comets were captured barreling toward our star by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO).
All five comets failed to come close to the sun cause of the intense bombardment of solar radiation.

Eyes on the skies!

We're seeing a good amount of far north and far south movement lately...

 Quoting: Simple27

Was just about to recap all the peculiar ones as of late..
Time to test the extreme latitude-theory thingy :)
Good observation(s)!

06-07 4.9 North of Zevernaya Zemlya
06-08 4.6 Western Indian-Antarctic Ridge
06-09 5.2 Greenland Sea
06-10 5.7 Pacific-Antarctic Ridge

Normally these would imply 7+ but the patterns are almost completely useless as of late. Upper 6 compromise?

Locationwise Peru has been on the uptick beginning with the 5.6 on 06/05 and the focus has shifted towards Northern Peru.

Enjoy the warm weather!

Best wishes,

-Finland (60 fahrenheit)

Sorry kids, obviously I made my last comment before seeing yours. We're all on the same page.

I am also watching S. America. Of course, I tend to anyway but there has been an uptick there this week for sure.

We are about getting a heat wave too! Mid 90's today and upper 90's tomorrow with humidity to boot! I think it's going to continue well into next week a well. yuck!
 Quoting: KickinIt

bump

And double yuck to the incoming heat wave. We're getting it tomorrow through Tuesday here.
 Quoting: Simple27

It appears our heat wave forecast has changed. Up until yesterday it was to be around 95 today with noticeably increased humidity, then around 98 tomorrow and Monday with even more humidity. But when I stepped out on the patio around noon, I was surprised how nice it felt. The sun was really hot, but the humidity wasn't bad at all and there was a nice breeze. So I checked the forecast, and it had changed to be 87 today with humidity in the 30% range. WTF? Tomorrow about the same but just a bit warmer in the low 90s. Monday-Wed looks to be a bit sticky and mid 90's, which is what they said all along.

So, I don't know if it was delayed getting here, or maybe it's just not going to be as bad and dragged out as they thought? I'm mentioning this because I know a number of you are supposed to get this weather in the next day or so after me.
