Hello everyone! Feels like I've been away forever! I've spent several hours a day for the past 3 days just reading & catching up on this thread. As I told someone recently, different number year, same old BS!
My 87 year old mom fell in December and broke her arm. Luckily, that was her only injury and she is finally regaining her mobility and confidence. But dealing with that pretty much squashed most of December.
On New Years Eve, at about 3 am, I had angry words with grandson over something stupid, then at 4 am sheriff's deputies rousted us from the house (it was cold standing outside in my pj's). Seems grandson's friend from 2 doors down had spent the evening breaking into houses and even into a deputy's canine unit vehicle while the officer was gone from home. When the officer got back, he just turned the dog loose and it went straight to the kid's house! Stupid doesn't quite describe it!! Anyway, they wanted to be sure grandson hadn't been helping...but he worked 12 hours the previous night then spent the day at the hospital with another friend, and had gone to sleep at home very early. Thank goodness!
I spent over 2 weeks keeping the great-granddaughter, Sadie. I love to keep her, but my normal schedule goes out the window when I have her. Then, on the 22nd, my nephew was having major surgery to remove part of his intestine that tested precancerous. Early that same morning, his mom - my sister - went to the ER with severe abdominal pain. We were thinking an intestinal blockage. What they found was a seriously bad abdominal aortic aneurysm - 1.5 inches long! Had it burst, she would have died before she could have called 9-1-1! Needless to say, emergency surgery. She's a widow, so I ended up spending 12 hours a day at the hospital with her, for a week. She and her son are both doing well, thank God!
December and January were kind of stressful, but I'm trying to focus on the fact that all the outcomes were good. Just nothing has been done that we were intending to get done. I've lost track of what day it is...
I'm sorry to hear about the job issues you and CS and MoN face, Sim! I can honestly say I'm glad I quit my job when I did! Don't think I could have handled the crap from that job along with everything else that's happened! I will be praying that all of you find better places to work!! Life is too short to spend so much of your time and energy at places that cause such stress and unhappiness!
I also hate to hear about the health issues Nef is having, Sim! Didn't see any recent updates, but have been praying for you guys! Stay strong...you will need to depend on each other for whatever needs to be done!
I'm glad that most of you are doing well...don't see ISIS around much, and a couple of others. But getting back on here has really helped my sanity.
And regarding the EQ's...I'm really concerned about the number and frequency of all the swarms, but especially about the Azores. Lots going on! Thanks for the posts and for keeping us all updated! (Hugs to you, KickinIt!)
