Any update on Steve ? Quoting: Goofy for God Bits and pieces... He never had the flu. Those few times over the past week when he got sick with flu-like symptoms, which included heavy vomiting, wasn't from the flu. It was from an infection that he didn't know he had. He thought it was the flu so he just figured he would deal with it like everyone else does by getting rest, fluids, otc medicine, etc. The infection (not sure still what caused the infection) got worse and lead to sepsis. He had gotten sick again on Saturday. Throwing up and stuff. Again, he thought it was the flu. I'm guessing this is when the sepsis began. Because by Sunday he was so sick that the sepsis became septic shock. If they had waited another half hour to go to the ER, he would've died. That part isn't speculation, the doctor told my friend that. He was dangerously close to death when he got to the ER. And he's still dangerously close now. She tried to get him moved to Boston (probably a 5 minute helicopter ride from the hospital he's currently in) but he isn't stable enough to be moved. They took him off sedation for a few minutes this morning, but he didn't do well with the voice commands, she said. He was put back on sedation. She said that she's trying to stay positive, but she doesn't think this is going to end well. She said she will never, ever forget seeing him like this. : ( Please keep praying for him! Quoting: Simple27 Every patient, by virtue of being in ICU, is considered critical and can't be moved until they are stable enough to go to a step-down unit within the same hospital. From there they can be moved to another hospital if its necessary. Please don't let the fact that he can't be moved discourage you. Its SOP. I'm so very sorry for your friend and will continue to pray for both her and Steve. |

Hit a new record low this morning for this date -3.7. It always amazes me to see records broken. The cold I would have thought would be lower than that for the areas around Denver |
