Just popping in between news reports. I have some friends who are currently in Northern India at a Seminar. They're slightly North West of New Delhi & found it hard to believe that 1. The quake was in North Afghanistan & 2. It was so deep!! (One of them went to Nepal shortly after the quake & felt plenty of aftershocks)
Anyways, there's some minor damage in the area they're in, but as of about 10 min ago, no deaths in India. IBN (branch of CNN in India) and NDTV (both of which broadcast mainly in English-available on the Internet and have iOS Apps You can watch live) are reporting 60 deaths in Afghanistan & Pakistan.
My friends are supposed to be coming back, leaving New Delhi later today (our time-tomorrow morning for them); but may hold off if they're needed. Besides, right now, the airport is still closed & will likely be backed-up for a day because of all the regional closings.
I also find it hard to believe in that this quake was SO widespread (other friends live in Khajuraho, India -East of New Delhi-and even THEY had some minor damage to our new Temple that was just completed a few weeks ago!!). I have to wonder if there wasn't some concurrent quake, more shallow, closer to India. Oh, and NDTV said that places on the India-Pakistan border had "SEVERE damage"?? THAT far away??
Edit: sorry, was rereading my post & noticed autocorrect changed the spelling-Khajuraho is the CORRECT spelling...
